I have a candy washing machine that I've had about 7 years now. Its been pretty good, and so far not had to have any repairs done on it.
  • Oh hoover actually make candy. Candy are their lower priced range.
  • As mentioned before. A miele is the cheapest and least hassle in the long run. You can find a miele for £450 with quidco and online codes. The only way you could beat this price over 25 years is if you managed to buy other makes every 5 years at less than £90 each.
They are not usually recommended by sales assistants or repair companies but they want you buying and repairing machines and purchasing repair insurance plans.
    Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j
Mortgages make money. Definitely don't wanabee mortgage free!
  • buy a Meile very reliable cheap to run

you are all raving about Meile but, which one shall i buy? they have so many.
i want to invest in one too, i hate washing machine that dont last long.
i had beko bought from currys and its rubbish only lasted a year,a waste of money as i didnt put waranty.
  • We were having the same problem as you. Had a Hotpoint ultima which has lasted about 4 years and we're now decided to replace with a Miele. We've decided to get the Prestige Plus mainly because you seem to get quite a lot on that one (1300 spin). Unfortunately missed out on the 5 year warranties as they finished at the end of November, but we're getting it from Dixons using the gimme5 code for £503.00 plus another £15 quidco and hoping that people are right and this will now last.
  • The 524 looks good. Don't be put off with low spin speeds. The speeds are genuine and not over estimated like some makes. The drum design is more efficient at expelling water at lower speeds than other makes also.

  • wouldnt know what miele to buy now but i bought mine second hand and aparently its over 15years old now. ive had it for 5 years and the only problem ive had is forgetting to unblock the filter (so it dosent drain).
    Couldnt recommend them highly enough.

First washing machine - Hoover 800 spin bought in 1986 gave excellent service till 1997. Only needed one repair in this time. It was hot and cold fill too.

Second machine Bosch 1100 spin bought in 1998. It was rubbish. Washing powder wouldn't disolve properly in it, it had 3 repairs, was noisy and finally the rubber seal started melting during the wash cycle and I had grey rubber marks on my clothes. Repairer who came out told me it was rubbish and said to buy a new one. He said to avoid Hotpoint & Hoover as they were overpriced temperatmental machines but some Indisits were OK. Machine was cold fill only so slow.

Third (and current machine) Zannussi 1400 spin bought in 2001. Lots of nice features like delay start, large 6kg load, quick wash. Downside it's cold fill and quick wash takes 52 mins (40 deg. economy). It also makes my cold water pipe clang when it takes on water!! Now it's showing it's age and can be noisy.

Looking for a new machine in new year. It has to be hot and cold fill. When I bought my last machine Curry's and Comet told me that it was impossible to get dual fill now but I understand this is incorrect.

Quicker wash time. If you have cold fill only then the machine has to heat the water for the wash. If you have hot fill and you already have a tank of hot water then the wash cycle is quicker.
