Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I think they are about to issue a notice of discontinuance as it is following the path of several recent cases. Search the forum for "discontinuance".3

The original PCN can’t have been £170. Probably £100 plus fake £70 debt collection fees which are all part of the scam. They are trying to frighten you into paying. Personally I would let them take it to court and trust a judge to see through their bogus claim.3

Please stop talking to them! ... do not engage in any negotiation whatsoever - it does not help your position.
Radio silence will likely lead to a discontinuance as mentioned above.Jenni x3 -
They offered £240.00 and I said no and she came back with £150.Hilarious preamble before a 5pm Friday discontinuance!
Email her back and say 'discontinuance please'!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The new question came up on June, and is discussed in a thread started by @Grizebeck. Glad to hear you searched & found what you needed.
There is no 'plaintiff' in small claims but the Template Defence first post walks you through the first 12 steps, including DQ stage and who to send it to.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
