kristen74 said:Right I’ve been contacted and told I’m not entitled to the col payment with me being on both income related and contribution esa as I receive more of the contribution esa ie if was just income I would weekly only receive £30 plus but my contribution amount is £162.50 weekly and they said it’s unfortunate but it’s the government’s ruling. I been told be possible good idea inquiring about universal credit where I’d get extra support. That doesn't sound right at all. Contributions based weekly amount is £117.60/week, not £162.50, therefore at least part of it is Income Related. If it was me then i'd be contacting my local MP.Just to add futher are you sure your weekly amount is £162.50? or is that your fortnightly amount? Just a thought because you mention if your ESA was Income Related you would only be receiving £30/week. In a previous comment you said your partner receives a pension every month, how much is that pension? that will reduce any Income Related ESA you're entitled to £1 for £1.1

I’m really sorry to hear that. I’m only asking as I haven’t yet been contacted. I fear I may receive a similar response.0 -

Are you definitely on income related ESA as well as contributory ESA? If so, it doesn't matter if your income related part is only one pence then you would qualify for the first cost of living payment.

Hi I just called ESA again because all this as had me really confused and the said I am on income related and contribution ESA and they look at which is higher and that's what I'd be paid and I not getting any of the Income related which would only be £38.01 weekly which My actual full Contribution amount is £162.80 weekly and said even though it states I'm receiving both I am actually not so technically I am just Contribution....0

Your numbers don't make sense. Contribution based ESA is £117.60/week. Anything over that is income based ESA which does match an up with £38.01/weekly to make a total of £162.80/week.kristen74 said:Hi I just called ESA again because all this as had me really confused and the said I am on income related and contribution ESA and they look at which is higher and that's what I'd be paid and I not getting any of the Income related which would only be £38.01 weekly which My actual full Contribution amount is £162.80 weekly and said even though it states I'm receiving both I am actually not so technically I am just Contribution....
Regardless - even if you have only 1p of income based ESA you are eligible for the CoL.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -
