@malct did you actually open a case with the Ombudsman?  I have now had another phone call from SP and I have been emailed a written apology (btw they have special email for ombudsman remedy), the goodwill cheque is apparently in the post....

Meanwhile I'm not sure how it's going with switching to Octopus, they are also kind of slow to reply (although not in the same range as SP!).  They seem unable to grasp that I am ALREADY their customer for supply and I want to move SEG from SP

I emailed the Ombudsman explaining the situation that i was in and i copied SP and Octopus into the email in the attempt to action SP into resolving the matter, The Ombudsman did reply back telling me how to open a case and what i needed which i already knew. Octopus hasn't replied to any emails that i have sent them recently with the only communication from John at SP and i have a follow up phone call a week today.   Yesterday i did tell john how i felt and about how one SP adviser was rude to me on the phone and how when phoning SP that i speak with advisors with respect even though deep down i felt differently in how i wished to communicate.....   In these situations, you have to remain calm and i felt reassured by my caseworker that he will be looking after me and getting this sorted out, He blames how the company now communicates with offices around Europe and no one seems to know what's going on
  • So I got a reply from Octopus today and it said that the registration was successful and I'm due on supply for them for export from the 20th February - so let's see!

Meanwhile, still waiting for my cheque from SP

  • Hi all, I've had a quick skim through some of the latest pages on this topic.
Can someone tell me how/when I'm supposed to be giving SP export meter readings in order to potentially be paid?
I've had minfo set up since august, but not had any emails requesting meter reads or anything like that - which is how I thought they were going to contact me. Emails to seg@ have been ignored, though I have found a phone number here that might help - thank you!) .  Original application as made in March '23, so almost a year of export to be addressed!

  • @malct they specifically said they were sending a cheque and to allow 21 days to receive it to allow for printing and posting it!

@alinwales they send you a website link by email about 6 months down the line.  TO be fair this was only after a LOT of pestering for all the preceding steps to be conducted (export MPAN, MINFO registration etc).

It's pretty useless anyway because then they told me I'd given the wrong meter reading and I had to send a photo (fortunately I'd taken one on the day).  THEN after that they sent me an email to say they hadn't received any readings at all! By this point I had a case with the Ombudsman open so I sent another reading and another photo and added that to my case.

Quite frankly though, what on earth is the point of having a SMETS2 smart meter as a specific requirement for joining SEG with Scottish Power if they don't use the readings from the meter
  • Ooooh good news

Congratulations, your export electricity meter is set up and your new export rates are now live. There's a couple of things we need you to do for your account to run smoothly and save you a lot of time later on.

    1. Add your bank details to your Octopus account (if you don't already have a Direct Debit set up): Your export payments will be added to your online Octopus account but if you ever want to withdraw your account balance, we will need your bank details set up.

    2. Send us your export meter reading and a photo of the meter: You can send them back to us by replying to this email. We will credit your online account everytime you give us a reading.

Still waiting for the Cheque from SP though

I read this thread with incredulity, not being a SP customer, and having read what I've read on here, never likely to be through choice.

For heaven's sake. What a way to run a business!
