Getting the balance right

Thanks for the reminder @badmemory I will put my arthritis gloves on, they dont seem to help the pain but they do keep my hands warmer.
Well, it's getting cold, so the fire has been put on and the kettles placed on top to heat water to do the dishes etc.7 -
Have ordered the curtain and pole for the front door to try and keep the cold out, cost of £80 probably wont get our moneys worth out of savings for heating, but hopefully it will keep the house a wee bit warmer.
A while ago we used to give Mr El separate money from the shopping for alcohol, it worked out at the 10 a day but we kept it separate the aim was to try and get him to understand how much he was spending on alcohol and that it was in fact more than what we spent on food, it worked for us but I think I had an issue with it, I think I got angry and jelous, I didnt have the same money to spend on what I wanted to spend, and when I did buy things ( usually things I didnt need) Mr El would have a moan.
I think though now that i have my adventure money for my time with friends then i am going to suggest we start it back, i think i am also going to suggest we cut it down to £250 a month to start with, eventually taking it down to £150 or so a month, the amount being spent on alcohol isnt good for Mr El and isnt sustainable if we are to retire early.
Anyway that's where my thoughts have been today, anyone got any opinions / advice ?5 -
I think it’s a good idea but what happens when it runs out? Will he accept that’s it for the month?Mortgage OP 2025 £6750/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Back to work today with a bump, I'm on a long day followed by 2 night shifts, deep joy.
We have an appointment tomorrow to meet with Mr Els financial advisor, I'm not too keen on what they have been doing and have a few questions to ask, Mr El just takes people at their word so believes all they say.
I think we may need to get to a stage where we get an independent advisor and have a chat, although we still have a few years to go before we retire we need to start pinning down the plans and actions we need to take.
Have a braw day everyone4 -

Cheers skinty, shift was ok, one of the people weve had working here for 6 months is going home to Italy, I will miss them, they were good company and worked really well.
wages in wages out ... I got £353 extra in my wages for the night shifts and on call that I did, I still have quite a bit to pay off the credit card and were still paying interest on it every month so I will put £250 to the credit card and £100 towards clothes as we both need things for next years holiday and it would be good start having money for clothes anyway.
The TV innthe living room has developed a line going down the side of the screen, so we will need to start saving more money for a replacement, I wouldnt mind doing away with it but Mr El enjoys having a tv and would like a new all singing and dancing one, so that needs saved for.
We had a meeting with the IFA today, he seems to think we are on track for our plans but will give us a costed out plan for retirement and we can take it from there2
