Thanks for responses.  That's good news.  I do have another question!  The £1500 requirement - is it OK if it is 3 separate payments that total £1500?  I have two amounts that go into the existing HSBC account automatically at different times of the month which total approximately £1100 so I need to make it up with £400 (which I will then return to the other account).

    Yes - this is fine. Any combination of payments in is acceptable, as long as they total £1500. You could do 1 x £1500, 2 x £750, 15 x £100, 1500 x £1, etc...

Brill.  Off I go.  The last switch (to HSBC) was OK other than painful getting online for the first time with all the various authentications required.  I do spend >£500 a month using the debit card so will hopefully qualify for the free fiver as well.

I got accepted and have a complete date next week. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and I get the £150.
  • It's annoying that you cannot apply for a joint account online. This wasn't an issue with HSBC, First Direct and previous switches.

Trying to get through on the 0345 720 3040 is the usual frustration.  Finally get through with a terrible connection (probably as statff WFH) on hold for 20 minutes and gave up.

Will visit branch today.  I expect there will be no appointments other than when we are on holiday.

    Such a frustrating process.

Go for a solo each and get 2 switching incentives.. you can convert one or open a joint later.

What's the easiest way to downgrade a Reward account? Can it be done online?

Yes you can; I did.  I think you can probably do it in the app too. In the account click on "more" then scroll down to "change account type" at the bottom.

BOS and Halifax are listed right next to each other.  It wont transfer is most likely.  T&C forgetting stuff wouldnt be a new thing
  • Halifax have a browser issue - does not work with Chrome. Very unprofessional for an organization of this size.

Warning - having finally opened an account I now get a text saying that they have closed it! No explanation given.
