I’m struggling to get my head round this, can I switch an external bank account into an existing Reward current account I have and get the reward Or do I need to be a new customer?

    Check the offer T&Cs:
  • I’ve tried to take advantage of this, but applying online seems to not work. As soon as I complete the marketing preference page, I get “it looks like something has gone wrong, please try again later”.

    Anyone else?

This is an intermittent  "feature" of Halifax online banking. Keep trying, may be after cleaning cookies / restarting your browser.

I'm guessing Bank of Scotland accounts are now OK to switch and receive the incentive? I know it doesn't state anywhere on T&C's excludes, but I know previous switches from Halifax in the past did specifically exclude BoS.

Maybe I’ll avoid them altogether then! Seems bizarre

You may be right. I thought about it, too, but decided I wouldn't risk that failing under 'from another bank' if I had an easyish alternative option, which I do.

If I hadn't, I'd phone & ask them to confirm. If you do please let us know the  outcome.

For £125 I'd give up one of BoS acs that paid useful interest when 0.78% was good.

The other thing that would make life easier is knowing if 2 DDs to the same company (which qualified to earn interest) is OK to qualify for switching?

And an observation: Some recent switches allowed switching online without debit card on the donor account; AFAICS this one sticks needing the last 4 digits.

I had similar issues with the last Lloyds switch - took a few tries to get things working. I'd try again later using different PC/browser if you can.

Again there's nothing in the terms to exclude it, but I think BoS is a bit of an odd one since I think it is simply a trading name of Halifax (or vice versa), rather than being separate members of LBG? I'd probably avoid just in case unless you have no other accounts to switch

I switched one of my accounts to Lloyds last month and have decided to keep the account. I'm thinking of switching my First Direct account to this and then deciding on what to do next. I can't find anything about exclusions for Lloyds account holders so I'm assuming it's going to be fine.

Facebook message says that Bank of Scotland is a separate bank and so long as other T&C's have been met then there should be no reason incentive isn't paid. The only reason thinking of moving BoS is because that is the account the DDs are on already and no spare DD, so don't want to move them elsewhere just to then switch.

Separate Bank? They share the same banking licence, FSCS cover is aggregated between Hfax & BoS.
