I suspect you now realise why I still have patterns which are over 50 years old & really brown now instead of white. Thankfully many are multi size patterns as I am only occasionally the size I was back then. Sometimes the odd bit of hoarding does pay off. I even have knitting patterns that must be 60 years old & the only adaptations they seem to need (once you get the tension right) is that they need to be longer. I have one dressmaking pattern that is definitely from 1976 as it is for my wedding dress for 1977. The pattern has lasted a whole lot longer than the wedding did.

Thank you SH. I'm a big fan of wildflowers and let them self seed indiscriminately in my flower beds. We already leave large areas of the orchard unmown and it's full of dandelions and buttercups which are making a very pretty show. We'd like to increase the varieties though. We have small trees in the courtyard at the back of the house and we've made that an area for shade loving wildflowers. The wildlife has increased as a result. I found an Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar in the orchard yesterday. I share your love of green spaces and the countryside.

We had one last year too @Swayingseaweed. The only problem is that it's on our quince tree so I'll have to check it doesn't cause too much damage. Might have to relocate it to some Rosebay Willowherb.

Inspired 💡
I went to a book signing last night. We have a wonderful bookshop in town which arranges lots of signings and meet the author events. It was really interesting and inspiring. Just what I need as I'm chairing Writing Group tomorrow and need to do the prep today. I paid for the event weeks ago and didn't buy any refreshments at the venue so it felt like a free night out. And I came home with a new, signed book I'm excited to read 📚
I ordered the grocery shop and it came in very slightly over budget this time. I've increased the weekly budget but think I may have to up it even more. My new sewing pattern arrived and this one's in the right size... I think 😆 I might start work on a toile tonight.
Lunch was prawn cocktail pittas and supper was Cauliflower, Paneer & Pea Curry with enough leftover for tonight too.
I have a day at home today so am hoping to catch up on some housework - can't spend every day hobnobbing with famous authors can I 😂

Criminal!
We were all geared up to take ownership of Mr F's company car tomorrow when we received an email from the lease company's agents to say they'd transferred ownership on Monday! And they were letting us know two days later! Mr F had been driving around in an uninsured car for two days 😡 And we can't insure the car yet because the lease company haven't sent Mr F his no claims certificate. Hoping to get it sorted out today but there are going to be some very shouty emails on their way to various people this week.
Other than that, I'm feeling much more on an even keel. Some helpful conversation with friends and family have helped me come to some decisions.
We had a cheese and pickle toastie for lunch yesterday and sausage, mustard mash and mixed veg for supper. The sausages did for today's lunch too.
I went to Writing Group last night. I'm the Chair and this was only the second meeting of the group so I wasn't sure how it would go. But the four new attendees seemed happy at the end and have given me their email so I think it went well. I enjoyed it and I've already learned a lot about the process of writing.
Mr F is out tonight so I think I'll get to work on some sewing. But in the meantime, I need to get some washing and ironing done. Mr F is away on business next week and he'll be going commando at this rate 🤭🩳🧦👖🧥Mortgage: 100% paid Emergency Fund: 100%

I love your reasoning for getting washing done FS! LOL 😆 🤣 😂
I often wait to see if OH realises that his stash of underthings is getting low and each time I have, he has without fail waited until putting on the last set before mentioning it! I then with much grumbling hand over the extras I've stashed elsewhere and pop a load on!

I have just relayed this to DH, and he countered that a chap he worked with in Munich, used to go home once a month and take his washing home. For the last week he would be observed with bulging under his trousers until finally someone asked. He replied that obviously his wife was going to count how many pairs of underpants he had brought home and he had to make sure he had the right number of pairs that had been worn. Touché!
