-1lb for me please @Brambling, I'm sticking with my scales, firstly its too complicated for my tiny brain and secondly I've still lost the same amount of weight no matter what my start was  :)

I was planning for a 3lb loss for the quarter.  Earlier this month I reached the 1lb loss mark - so that can be recorded now.

However, I've been advised , for a while, to increase my calcium intake by 3 portions a day (such as '200ml milk, a yogurt, "matchbox" size piece of cheese').  I'd normally count 20g as a portion of cheese so this is really increasing my intake and adding to my saturated fat consumption which I really wanted to avoid as I have high levels of cholesterol.  But - I've found that oranges and apricots are also good sources of calcium.  Though this would increase my sugar consumption a bit, I think it is preferable.  Any way, I'm building up to the higher figure and think it may also affect my figure in an upward direction on the bathroom scales.

Can you increase your green veg, things like kale, cabbage, chard and broccoli are a good source of calcium, I think some nuts and pulses do as well for example a small tin of baked beans and if you are a fish eater tin sardines or tin salmon are good.  I have a family history of osteoporosis and remember this from a diet sheet my mum was given once.
    Thanks for that.
I already aimed for fish twice a week and have plenty of nuts and seeds (eg breakfast is usually fruit & nut muesli with a handful of almonds and of walnuts in addition - and often with yogurt instead of milk).  I've also found that calcium per gram is far better with broccoli than kale.
I think the recommendation about milk, yogurt and cheese could have been the doctors trying to make things as easy as possible as 200ml of milk is probably simpler to have than 4 oranges for the same amount of calcium.  My blood test result was "only just below the recommended" and so I'm not worried and haven't looked back at what I had been eating in the week before the tests.

Thanks Gingerlily - this probably means I've given you someone else's 1lb oops- but lets be honest it won't be the first of last time that happens  :#

    Hiya,

Just checking in quickly with a STS for this week. I'm okay with that though as we went away for the weekend so I ate quite a lot on Saturday and Sunday. Fortunately that was balanced out by not eating on Friday and a LOT of walking.

Well done for the losses/STSs and commiserations for the gains.

Hopefully work will be less mental next week and I'll have time to catch up properly on posts.

    Best of luck everyone.

    Hello
Well done sts with a weekend away Izadora. Thank you for updating the chart Brambling.

Today for breakfast scrambled egg and a bit of smoked salmon, the 2 coffees with cream. Other meal; shrimps and lettuce with a tiny bit of sweet chilli dipping sauce and a Thai green chicken and veg curry, strawberries and cream for dessert and a cup of tea with milk.
