Melting here in North Wales 🥵
- We came home from our weekend away but not without booking another! DH paid for it but I will need to think about some spending money it’s not until October but might have been a bit hasty! So unfortunately didn’t say no to unintentional spends today.
- I didn’t waste the drying opportunity and did 6 loads of washing. It’s all dry & put away or in the ironing pile. My phone tells me my screen time has reduced which I am pleased about. My car hasn’t been used since Friday so no fuel wasted.
- Not an alcohol free day as it’s DH birthday. Only had shandies again but still only 6/31 AF days. Friday will be the start of joining Slimming globe it’s not fun being overweight in this heat and finding comfortable nice clothing it time to something about it.
- Family visiting made me smile today and a good film we’ve just watched.
- Budgets are ok but no wriggle room. I had £40 budget for lunch out but too hot to go out and expect other people to cook for us so ordered pizza for us all & bought the beers spent £40!
- Bought pizza through top£back using cash back credit card (paid off straightaway). Also saved 5% by booking holiday whilst we were there do that counts as money saving right???!
- Every £ thought about today including buying a hair styling product on the big A store as £2.50 cheaper than supermarket.
- Using up toiletries and a deodorant that is stronger than my usual so good for this heat.- Not an NSD day today so still 7/31. Will count up the items for decluttering tomorrowLightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Member #8 of Fiver Friday Challenge £175/£2607 -
If anyone has someone in their life on anti-depressants, then tell them to be careful in this heat, as they are more prone to overheating and dehydration if they are taking SNRI / SRRI medication (that is Sertraline /Citalopram/Duloxetine / Fluoxetine / Mirtazapine and all the others). Keep out of the sun and keep drinking!

It was certainly a hot one yesterday. After a quick walk to Aldi I spent the day indoors with the blind down drinking water and not doing much else. The Boy phoned twice to see that we were OK and his flat was in total darkness - blinds down, curtains drawn and fan on. There were a lot of people sunbathing on the front grassy bit and little children splashing around in paddling pools. I hope they had applied a very high factor sun block. The local fire brigade were busy as some little neds had got hold of a fire hydrant key and were going around the town setting them all off.
We had salad for both lunch and dinner and we're doing the same today. I have to confess to giving in and having a bowl of ice cream to cool me down (well, that's my very feeble excuse anyway).
Today, will be much the same as yesterday so I'm off to get out before it heats up.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
I think ice-cream may be medicinal in this heat, well, jubblies and ice poles are in my house!!

Morning Turtles. Sorry for being awol for a couple of days, I don’t function well in this heat (blonde and pale skinned) do have 3 NSDs though!
Although our Canadian guest is very lovely and helpful, it is causing me a fair bit of extra work making proper dinners from scratch every night as I have decided it is cheaper to do that when there are 6 people in the house. I did feel better when DS1 informed me that she had said my cooking was every bit as good as her grandmother’s which apparently is a huge compliment.
Bit of a panic yesterday when older cat had heatstroke and needed urgent cooling down. A bottle of ice cold fizzy drink was deployed and he was shut in DS2’s study which is partially underground and permanently cool. Half an hour later he was fine. Naughty kitten is crashed in front of the fan very sensibly, but older cat is back to his usual laying in the sun.
I have pushed the boat out this morning and am using the air conditioning in the car as petrol is dropping in price around here (10p since last weekend) but I am still struggling as it was 31C when I left the house at 8.30 and we are right on the coast, so I dread to think what it is like inland.7 -
You can make fishy ice cubes for your furry friends - just a bit of tuna in some water, and freeze, it is a game and cooling. Cat-pops.If you have any ice packs, put one in front of the fan and it cools the air - home made A/C unit. If you dont have any ice packs, then a bowl of ice cubes will do the same but not last as long obvs. Those microwavable gel heat packs for pain can be frozen and stuck round your neck.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Caravan day 3Factor 50 on, and off to the beach again. We stayed for about an hour then returned to the caravan for lunch and homemade ice lollies - the orange juice ones turned out well. The diluting juice ones reminded me of childhood ice poles - the flavour drained on the first suck and then you’re left with literally an ice pole. Did help with cooling down though. Also washed some undies in the sink and hung out to dry saving £7 on the campsite’s laundry machines.Spent £4 on beach parking and top up shop £14.Grateful today for keeping cool-ish, for more time at the beach and finding more lovely shells (I like the twirly ones 🐚), and for OH making dinner.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸7
