Have to admit I like Direct Travel, I'm happy with the price, with cover is good and importantly for us allows everyone on the policy to travel independently (which alot of policies do not, they usually only allow the policy holder to travel on their own)  plus you're not limited to the number of ski trips you take each year.
  • hello everyone!

after bagging a 3 week trip from the BA bargain the other week i'm thinking of travel insurance now.

i plan to be in hong kong for 3 days then popping over to japan for the remainder of the time.

will i need 2 sets of travel insurance? one for each country?
sorry if this sounds funny but i've never really needed/thought about travel insurance up to now!

    thanks guys and merry xmas

You will only need one lot of travel insurance. When you apply, you normally have to say where you're going as the world is split into "zones". I believe (but don't quote me!) that HK and Japan are in the same "zone". Before getting your travel insurance online - I'm presuming again! - phone up a couple of companies, say what you're doing and get quotes from them. Alternatively, have you looked into getting annual travel insurance for this trip?

  • Haven't had to try a claim on travel insurance so can't comment on their worth, but https://www.travel-insurance-web.com come up cheaper and more comprehensive than Insure & Go for us.

Single trip, Asia/Pacific, couple under 49, no options, including cancellation and baggage:

Travel-insurance-web.com £36.95 (was £33 this time last year)

    TMSM £39.60

Insure & Go (with no baggage cover) £42

So we'll stick with T-I-W.com FTB

Take a look in Martin's Best Buys on the left handside of the screen. I think that I got my last lot through Money Supermarket. It compares loads of different companies and you can tweak your requirements - ie baggage cover, passport & money cover etc.

The Post Office is an excellent insurance. I always use it. I went to Cyprus 2 years ago and slipped a disc. I ended up in hospital for 5 days and they organised everything. I phoned the contact emergency number and the leaflet and they took care of EVERYTHING. I was travelling with my 2 sons, they stayed with me in a private room. They organised X-Rays, room, doctor, all meals and even took the boys away to a swim park for a day as they were getting bored. I travelled back 1st class and never worried over anything. The premium is excellent for single people with kids as they go free on the insurance and I think its around 25/6 pound.

  • I have no complaints about the annual policy I took out with Ryan Air - the provider is Primary Direct. Annual is £40 no holiday over 30 days and if you want wintersports cover its £45. At the moment if you take the wintersports cover at £45 you get a free flight just pay the taxes etc., The cover was comparable with my previous years cover which was renewable at £75. I will renew again with Ryan Air this year unless of course someone spots something in the policy document that I have not seen? check out https://www.ryanairtravelinsurance.com the whole policy is on the site.
  • anyone know if when buying the family policy you get 1 or 2 free tickets
  • Used moneysupermarket in the past but also used Direct Insurance 019038 12345
