Kroo bank discussion

  • Typical.  I go all in with Kroo and Starling roll out virtual cards a few days later ..
They’re still a very new fully functioning bank though, so this may very well be a feature they offer in the future.

I leaning towards going all in with them, but can’t really find too much information from people that have…
Starling's Virtual Cards are an absolute game changer for me though.   I've always preferred running a second account for bills and recurring card transactions so I can just transfer X amount each month manually to cover the bills and whatever is left is what I've got for the month.

The Virtual Cards linked to Bill paying pots mean I can now finally use that feature and still keep my bills separate from my main balance.

I will give Kroo credit though, in one interaction I had with them on live chat i happened to mention my recent autism diagnosis and they got in touch to ask me for advice on how they could handle any future interactions so it would be easier and more helpful for me to deal with.   It was a nice personal touch.

Anyone else having any issues with DDs not being collected on the day they are supposed to be?

Hmm that’s not ideal! Is that DD’s due on a Monday or ones that have a few clear working days either side?

If your DDs are collected earlier than agreed, you have reason to complain, and you can ask for them to be reverted under the Direct Debit Guarantee

If they are collected after the agreed date, it is most likely because the company you are paying have requested it for a later date, or because DDs are not processed on non-working days. Most banks only process DDs on working days.
  • Has anyone used their Kroo card/account while traveling?

Direct Debits came out as expected in the end so all good :)
Actually finding Kroo quite a solid enough bank for day to day spending the more I'm using it.

It says on Kroo website that faster payments out have a limit of £10k per transaction and that an amount above this will require a review in order to be processed. It also says n/a for whether there is a limit on cumulative payments out. So if say wanting to transfer out full £85k then in theory could do in 9 separate transactions without need for a review unless they also review cumulative amounts at a certain level too. Has anyone tried big payments out and thus advise how it functions in practice?

This will be the last time i post about transfers, promise

Sent £10 from Revolut to Kroo last night at 11:30pm, went through in seconds without any issues.

Sent £110 from Revolut this morning at 8:53am and it was held for 15 minutes for review so I must be getting closer to being "trusted"

Is everyone finding these issues with inbound payments being checked?

And how easy is it to manage Standing Orders with Kroo?
