Ah, good call. I now remember being confused by the Welsh green stripe on a van. As long as the ULEZ cameras can tell the difference all will be well.

The green stripe confers no actual benefit and I've seen some new EVs without it: it's not obligatory. Any enforcement is done via the registration, so if there actually is a green stripe on a non-EV it just shows that the person who put it on there was a prat. Not necessarily the current driver remember.

The total shown for ID3, ID4 and ID7 is 8,950. The total for VW is 14,012. There are only two other models that I am aware of: ID5 and ID Buzz. If those are sold in equal amounts that is 2,531 each, but they don't appear on the table. The same issue with Skoda: they sell the Enyaq and Elroq, but the total Skoda sales less Enyaq means the Elroq would have sold 3,205 cars. It's not on the list. Can we trust any of these numbers?
    6.4kWp (16 * 400Wp REC Alpha) facing ESE + 5kW Huawei inverter + 10kWh Huawei battery. Buckinghamshire.

As an indication of registrations, yes. As an indication of sales, probably not.

You could also have said "Tesla now has the top two selling EV's in the UK."

BYD has slashed its EV prices in China by as much as 34%. The BYD Seagull, which saw a price cut of around 20%, in China is now only a quarter of the price of a Tesla Model 3. The Seagull list price in China converts to just £5,741 but if it comes here (as expected) it will be more though it will still undercut the Dacia Spring.

There is currently significant oversupply in the EV market in China leading to pre-registering of vehicles and there is a prospect of some manufacturers being driven out of business.

I was rather surprised by a car review in our local paper that BYD have launched a hybrid model, but it does seem to be correct:

I was under the impression that BYD were an EV-only car company.  Adding a hybrid to the range late in the day seems to be a backward step.

A few years back they dropped their ICE / HEV models and changed to plu-in only. A very rough rule, would be 50:50 PHEV to BEV.

Their PHEV sales probably help them to stay profitable, compare to the many BEV only Chinese cars. Though the recent investigation by China into these companies selling new cars as SH zero mileage, to boost new sales numbers, does seem to have scared BYD a little bit, and they need to clear stock.

Growing pains I suppose as the transition takes place. Many companies will fold or amalgamate soon.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
