Perhaps a little surprising given the recent consumer interest shown in PHEVs but as Mercedes say, it is a transition technology so no long term future. They appeal to me, though.

I have already posted a report from Electrek on the senior staff who are leaving Tesla and the postponement of the Model 2. This article from Driven suggests that Tesla may eventually leave the auto industry to concentrate on AI and Robotics. This perhaps should come as no surprise as the mercurial Musk gets bored with cars and looks for something new and exciting to play with.

Given the lack of new cars in development (the non mainstream Roadster excepted) it seems quite likely, as what cars will Tesla have left to sell in 2030, with both the 3 and the Y over a decade old by that point?

Staff numbers slashed, big heads roll as Tesla rethinks future as car maker

His exit has reinforced speculation that Musk may be about to engineer a dramatic change of course for Tesla, forced out from the auto industry as most people understand it by competition from China, and focusing instead on areas where it considers itself to be a world leader, including autonomous driving, robo-taxis, and energy.

One of the world’s leading auto analysts, Morgan Stanley’s Adam Jonas, has written that Tesla’s business model could be about to “cross the chasm” from car making to AI and robotics.

“Could the abrupt deceleration in EV demand and rise of China competition move Tesla out of the auto industry … and have it re-enter in a different form?” Jonas wrote in a note to investors earlier this week, before the confirmation of the staff cuts.

I wonder if this will make a Daily Mail headline. Has anyone ever filled up with the wrong electric?

The ford focus is 24 years old, yet people still buy them.

I'd be far more comfortable driving the Tesla if he had sold off that part tbh.

Not that I particularly love the head of stelantis or vag or Toyota etc, but Musk is a particularly disagreeable individual imo only of course.

I found this article on CleanTechnica interesting. I had noticed a slight shift in editorial content in recent months - an acknowledgment that the EV revolution isn’t progressing quite as planned. Now Tesla Fanbois are labelling the site as anti Tesla (they had being saying that about Electrek for a while).

Tesla Layoffs — Let’s Get Real About This

I just wrote two days ago about Tesla demand factors — pro and con — in the coming years, and a few moments ago, I saw a comment under the article from someone saying they needed to move CleanTechnica from their “news” bookmark to their “anti-Tesla” one. Not wanting to see what is happening and not wanting to have serious discussions about the most important matters concerning the future of the company will not make the issues go away. In fact, it’s this kind of stubborn refusal to accept and look at the challenges the company is facing that has gotten Tesla to where it is. Largely, it seems that has come from the top, but not enough fans and supporters of the company have been willing to look at and address the elephants in the room.

But EV technology is constantly moving forward. Look at what has happened to sales of the Model S/X despite refreshes. Even Model 3 sales are a pale shadow of what they were 2 or 3 years ago. Yes there will be new markets opening up for old models (perhaps Tesla could establish a cheaper brand like Renault did with Dacia) but without new models Tesla’s star will soon be on the wane and I suspect Mr Musk has realised it.

I certainly pointed out more than once that you being in NE Englandshire was part of your issue as at that point it had the worst penetration of chargers in the whole UK, contributing to your charging issues.
I probably suggested that knowing this, you should plan your routes and charging stops more thoroughly.
The smaller battery car plus long journeys fairly often wasn't a good combo either,

That sounds very much like victim blaming.

The issue is, this limitation on choice of car or only covering some parts of the country is an absurd type of restriction to have.
I know you selectively quoted me to make your point, omitting the later parts, but even then, how is it victim blaming saying there are less chargers in the area?
How exactly is that blaming Ken?

And if I have victim blamed, then you have also, as apparently your calling him absurd.

Sounds like a ridiculous conclusion to come to based on what you typed right?

    Right back at ya 😉
Not really "right back at ya"

Your comments were focused on the individual.  My comment did not refer to the individual as "absurd" but the restriction you had referenced.
