My guesstimate is that it takes about 5 minutes to fuel our Evoque + the 20 minutes it takes for the 8 mile drive to the garage & back!

I very much doubt the time taken to plug/unplug versus the time taken to fill up an ICE car is a fundamental choice for many in choosing an EV or not.
It may not be but a lot is made of how little time it takes to plug in and unplug rather than standing holding a petrol pump nozzle.

That’s what people used to do on a Saturday in the 1950s. Most of us with ICE cars fill up when visiting the supermarket or shopping or on the way to work. Does anyone drive to the petrol station just to fill up nowadays?

The Evoque gets used locally so it doesn't pass any fuel stations or they're closed because it's Sunday. It's like a game of Russian Roulette as it gets close to empty because neither of us can be bothered to go & fill it up.

But you would probably only be aware of that if you drove past the independent. That’s how I found out my independent is sometimes cheaper than Asda. I recall pointing out fairly recently that we are more sensitive to fuel prices than public EV charging prices even though they vary far less.

I would take this survey by Gridserve with a pinch of salt. 1.6m drivers take the driving test every year and about  700k pass so if a quarter of these new drivers are going to go out and buy a used EV then that’s around 175k sales a year or 50% more than the total used EV  transactions in 2023.

Half of learners want lessons in EVs - and it's going to kill-off the manual gearbox

Nearly a quarter (24 per cent) said they planning to celebrate passing by getting their first electric car.

It's going to be increasingly difficult to learn to drive in a manual once petrol/diesel cars are phased out anyway.
I imagine that if you really want a manual licence it will just be an add on like a CBT or something where you go off to some specialist centre and drive an old classic

Is anyone aware of the name of the medical condition where someone who has purchased an EV and then changes their mind go looking for as many reasons as possible to confirm to themselves that their ultimate decision was the correct one?

    Asking for a friend.
