My MG5 appears to base the range on the previous trip consumption rate. I have noticed that the range starts to drop faster when you have less than 50 miles left. It suspect the algorithm is tweaked to "encourage" you to find a charger, sooner rather than later. I just monitor the SOC figure, at that point, and do the sums in my head, based on a slightly conservative consumption rate.

First marketing email today for the new TM3...
The new model is on the website with deliveries commencing Jan-Feb 2024. Prices seem to be unchanged from the outgoing model so that should result in some heavy discounting between now & the new year.

WLTP range now close to 400 miles on the LR.
    4kWp (black/black) - Sofar Inverter - SSE(141°) - 30° pitch - North Lincs
    Installed June 2013 - PVGIS = 3400
    Sofar ME3000SP Inverter & 5 x Pylontech US2000B Plus & 3 x US2000C Batteries - 19.2kWh

This, I think, may throw up all sorts of problems for Tesla.

Isn’t the standard range cheaper now? I don’t recall the list price being below £40k before (although at quarter end it has been discounted below that figure). Also isn’t the gap in price between the SR and LR greater than previously?

Given the much increased range of both models and the lower price of the SR, I don’t see any private motorist buying the old Model 3 - unless it is heavily discounted. Will Tesla be the first EV manufacturer to feel the Osborne Effect?

Will the SR with the increased range (on 18 inch wheels)of 344miles steal sales from the LR?

Also isn’t it just possible that the extended range of the M3 will make buyers think very hard about whether they really need the extra space of a MYLR?

If all the sales are private fleet then it won't make a blind bit of difference.
    8kW (4kW WNW, 4kW SSE) 6kW inverter. 6.5kWh battery.

The TM3 has always had a longer range and lower price than the equivalent TMY.
I don't understand why that would change anything in the choice going forward.
I also suspect TESLA are unfussed whether an individual choses the TM3 or TMY.

Leased vehicles purchased by fleets rather than individuals.

Maybe I could have put that better. The new M3 SR has a range of 344 miles compared to 305 miles previously. The MYLR has a range of 331 but costs £13k more. If you need a Tesla with a range of 330 miles would the extra space of a MY be worth an additional £13k or could you manage with the M3? Methinks, some (not all) would perhaps say, I reckon I can live with the M3 for the saving it offers.

I doubt the MYLR costs £13k more to make than the M3SR so Tesla will be losing margin if a buyer switches from MYLR to M3SR.

The Highland Model 3 is expected to cost less to build than the outgoing model especially in the Fremont & Shanghai plants. The M3SR - although 344 miles is not exactly 'short' - will be a very compelling vehicle at under £40K with it's comprehensive level of standard equipment.
