A mate sold his E-Pace because of errant LKA interventions & Jaguar's failure to rectify it after several visits to the dealership. It would occasionally steer the car onto the wrong side of the road or onto the verge for no reason which meant he had to hold the steering wheel firmly with both hands all the time. After one episode when he ended up fighting LKA for control of the car he sold it back to the dealer.

I can turn mine off, it's just that you have to remember to do it, and then it's via a pesky screen which is common these days on pretty well all cars. I don't think I can program a steering wheel button for it.

But as good technique requires two hands on the wheel I haven't been seriously discomfited..

I am not sure that I understand the purpose of that comment but, apparently, the same thing can happen to all sorts of cars.

Rufford Ford in the UK is infamous for videos of cars going through deepwater. The ICEV's suffer when the water goes up into the airbox, and then kills the engine, especially with modern engines that shutdown when they detect problems with combustion and compression. So loads of the vids show ICEV's going 'successfully' through the ford, but then emitting white smoke shortly after, before packing in completely.

The Tesla's/BEV's do really well, but the main problems seem to be speed, as hitting the water can damage front bumpers and numberplates, and the drag of water, at speed can rip rear bumpers clean off.

Plus BEV's can suffer the same problem as ICEV's with very deep water, where the air inside makes them bouyant, and they lose grip, even float off to the side.

Here's a Tesla edition of Rufford Ford.

Here's a more typical vid, showing the failures, even Land Rovers. The locals video the show, help people out, show how to dry out the airbox / air filter, cheer on attempts etc. The 'trick' apparently is to approach the water slowly, enter gently, then wait for the bow wave to go down, then slowly cross, but of course, only if your ICEV is high enough for the water level that day.

High vehicles, mod'ed vehicles (with high air intakes) and Tesla's go there to show off / put on a show too.

Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

    Aaah, OK.
Well, I have to admit that the picture was a bit odd as my Tesla is fitted with all the latest devices including hoverboard function and PDFM (propeller driven floatation mode) so maybe that one in the photo was an older model ;)

There was a myth around for a while that you could safely drive through flood water in a Tesla and generally (as long as traction can be maintained) a Tesla will keep going where ICEvs stop as water is sucked into the engine through the air intake. Indeed Elon Musk commented (jokingly?) that the car could be used as a boat for a short time.

According to Elon Musk, “Tesla can work as a boat for a short period.”

When you activate the boat mode, the car’s sensors and cameras adjust to the water level, allowing you to drive through water without damaging the car’s electrical components.

However drivers are finding that the batteries aren’t as well sealed as was initially thought and water gradually seeps in and a day or so later the car won’t move. The damage (as with an ICE) can be catastrophic.

You could be right, looking at the position of the car it hadn't obviously been fitted with a rudder.
