Big love to you Round. I’m here with you in spirit. Spent the afternoon watching cricket in the sun, very pleasant. I am keeping on top of the basics, nothing else, at the moment.
Hugs to everyone especially Squeak, YL, Round, basically anyone. Glass of Pimms anyone? X

(((Hugs))) to round, pigpen and anyone else in need xx
I'd love to join you in a Pimms, asb!
My achievements for today:
- finished the filing
- cleared the spare bed, and washed, dried and replaced the throw (Rosie approved!)
- emptied the old mini-greenhouse on the left, cleared a space for the new one on the right (which DH put together), and moved my tomato plants into them.
The tomatoes have shot up in the past 10 days, so I was particularly pleased not to have broken them, even though I had to tip the pots on their sides to get the stems under and between the shelf supports.
The perennials in pots on the left are still waiting to be planted out...5 -
Hugs Round and Pigpen hope your bites die down.
Started day with a lake swim. Went to nearby garden centre for some compost and came back with ....several plants....well they were reduced.
- Did an enormous amount in the garden, having agreed with Mr N that - in preparation for visitors arriving Tuesday - we would make the garden perfect today, the house perfect tomorrow then food shop on Monday. Pigs, fly.
- Filled bird feeder. Saw a squirrel on it yesterday, not altogether welcome as feeding the entire Hertfordshire population of juvenile starlings, our normal birds as well as a pheasant is all very expensive. Just looked outside and there was a hedgehog on the patio also visiting the feeder.....more welcome than a squirrel. We'd stopped putting out food for the hedgehog (in the little house Mr N built for them) because of rats. Hertfordshire safari park here, we should charge entry!
- did a bit of drumming practice.
Just had a message from DB, he is finishing his work a day early (in France) so plans to drop in after lunch tomorrow until Monday am. Will be delighted to see him but told him he's to be given a sleeping bag owing to clean spare bed ready for Tuesday visitors! Have just planned what I'll feed him on and checked freezer.
All in all, I rather wish I hadn't volunteered to do church refreshments tomorrow to cover for someone; hoping I get there early and set out coffee etc then help serve but can rush off before the washing up and let the partner do it if her daughters help. I usually walk to church (about half an hour each way) which is pleasant and good exercise, but I think the speed of the car will be better as I envisage some high speed flying ahead. Had semi-planned to go to some open gardens tomorrow afternoon, will see how we get on. There's always Monday to catch up, although Mr N has gym then a blood test.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Fayolle I have a lot of sympathy about the car because we went through exactly the same with ours and even though we now have a newer one that we couldnt really afford I have developed this anxiety about driving that I cant shake off.
Pigpen sorry to hear about the itchy painful legs, hope you get something sorted. Lovely to hear that Dots teachers seem to understand her and let her just deal with things her own way.
My brother visited yesterday. We were supposed to be spending the day cycling together but even though I seem to be over this Covid I still have a lot of catarrh and sinus bother so we chilled out in the garden together instead drinking tea, eating the lemon drizzle cake I made for him, and chatting endlessly about all sorts of things. Then we met up with Mum, Dad, DS1, GF, and DH and all went to the pub for a meal. Such a lovely lovely day.
I have been reading The Salt Path which I picked up from the library, its about an ordinary couple who lose everything and how they deal with it. Brilliant book if you get chance to read it.
Today is a trip to Leeds to pick up DS2 and all his stuff to bring him home for a week, before we then have to take him back again to his new house. This means driving right into the city centre and DH and I dont do that sort of driving very often so its always a bit stressful. I get my boy home for a week though.
ASB I might need a Pimms later love, if there is any left.
Have a good Sunday all x8 -
Good morning my lovelies 😘
Thank you for the hugs and kind thoughts. They're very much appreciated ❤
Sending out love, hugs and anti-itch vibes. Be warned they might be odd though as I'm still feeling very...disconnected? fragile? unsettled? stretched? I can't put my finger on the right word - but I don't want anyone else to feel it!
I'm up, made my bed, freaked out because someone had parked in a manner that would have made it nearly impossible for me to reverse out of my drive and Pops has asked me to pick up the morning paper for him, came down and opened the curtains to find said car had gone - it would be someone feeding NN's chickens while they're on holiday....NN's, not the chickens 🙃, berated myself for panicking, loaded WM and boiled kettle.
WM is swishing towels, tea towels and a pillowcase. I'm supping a brew.

Good morning all,
It’s a strange and very windy day outside, which is unsettling for some reason. Add that to a string of 4am wake-ups, worrying about work, deadlines and workload, and it’s not adding up to the nest of weekends. Nothing bad (apart from the car, which in the scheme of things isn’t bad, just anxiety inducing), just unsettling.
I have a list of things that I really need to get done - random things like pay the car tax, and frustrating things like go and see just how much worse than last week my allotment has got. Plus I need to fill the green bin, as it is not going out half full when it costs us so much each year to get it collected.
DD imparted a whole load of dates and plans on us last night. I’m trying to remember that she is 19 and we always wanted her to be able to live her life and have independence, but it gives me more to worry about on the inside whilst trying to look supportive on the outside. YL - we have done the moving out (thankfully from halls outside of the city) but have the moving in to do in a couple of weeks into the city centre. Like you, it panics me.
And the water softener has just konked out. We inherited one when we moved here. DH has just managed to disconnect it, don’t think we will be replacing that any time soon. Joining Round, and breathing….
I need a 2nd cuppa, then maybe a plan of action.Hugs and love to all. I’ll make up another jug of Pimms later, if ASB’s runs out xx6 -
Hello all
DD is at nieces hen weekend so I invited my friend for tea, and we had roast vegetable lasagne topped with mozzarella. V successful. We watched a film on DD’s Netflix a/c so very moneysaving.
didn’t need to water the garden (and my precious salad seedlings) yesterday as the sky leaked copiously.
and, of course, inviting a friend round meant I tidied and vacuumed so win-win.
WUALTD before I came to bed, also set WM and DW going.
An reading The Thursday Murder Club… it’s keeping my attention so that’s good.

Morning all.
Dailies are done. Dogs have been walked but my back is playing up a bit so I'm not partaking of sports this afternoon.
Going to whizz hoover round next.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
