Its always sad when a business closes down, however it won't come to any surprise that another business is citing issues around the Private parking industry.
This time its the infamous car park in Derby, on Siddals road where the inflatable park is closing

The team said a number of issues, most notably their car park situation, had "sadly impacted the site’s trade and made it increasingly difficult to continue operating as we’d like." Jumpin Fun had previously spoken out about issues with a car park near the site after visitors said they had received fines despite having paid online for their parking.

And a search of MSE shows this site to be a "hotspot"

The private parking industry .... creating customer chaos, bringing an enterprise, offering a popular service and trying to earn an honest crust, to its knees!

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Another example of council fund raising.... Leeds city centre businesses that provide staff with car parking could be charged more than £2,000 per space to help pay for West Yorkshire's proposed tram network.

One horrified business Director said "this is quite clearly just a money grab" if the charge is introduced they would relocate to a site beyond the parking levy zone."

A council spokesperson said: "The current level of funding available to us is insufficient to cover our ambitions, and introducing a mechanism such as a workplace parking levy is one funding option which could help generate the revenue needed."
Or, and hear me out: they could cut their own expenditure.
Leeds has the worst mass transit public transport provision of any city in the Europe, it also as a direct result has some of the worst congestion. For many using a private vehicle is the only option for commuting.  The new tram infrastructure is required and if Government won't pay the cost from general taxation someone else has to.
Well let's make that someone else be the private parking companies. The ones making millions, the ones who are allowed to make endless repetative practice, administration and system errors without any sanction or financial penalties.

    As said above

and are killing other businesses too.

But apparently the MHCLG think otherwise as per the Ministerial foreword in the Private parking code of practice consultation recently closed:-

    "
The UK private parking industry plays an important role in supporting our local economies and high streets."

Hope our replies have convinced them otherwise.

Oh dear, what an appalling misinterpretation and naive misunderstanding of the history of the situation. I'm sure that businesses going under at the hands of the private parking sector won't be so taken in by all this!

Plus it's win-win for the parking company because they can continue to issue PCNs to anyone who parks because they can no longer possibly be a customer.  Added bonus is that the outlet management won't be pestering them for cancellations either.
