Here's a post from LinkedIn - a disgruntled customer of a parking company (you should be able to read without logging in). Caveat Emptor indeed.

That need publicising far more widely (not sure how) but I am pleased to see Jackson Yamba put forward - he and contestor legal have helped several posters from this forum.
I think he might now be stymied in light of Mazur. Immediately after the judgment he was attempting to garner support from fellow professionals for mounting an appeal. Whether that came to anything, I don't know.
He's put his prices up to cover the additional cost of using qualified persons.

Looks to be in part due to the market place being used once a week so parking needs to be suspended to allow access for traders.

Richmond North Yorkshire has a similar set up.  On days before market days they put up A boards advising parking is not permitted between certain hours due to the market.  It works.

Another example of council fund raising.... Leeds city centre businesses that provide staff with car parking could be charged more than £2,000 per space to help pay for West Yorkshire's proposed tram network.

One horrified business Director said "this is quite clearly just a money grab" if the charge is introduced they would relocate to a site beyond the parking levy zone."

A council spokesperson said: "The current level of funding available to us is insufficient to cover our ambitions, and introducing a mechanism such as a workplace parking levy is one funding option which could help generate the revenue needed."

Or, and hear me out: they could cut their own expenditure.

The proposal is from the combined authority, not the local authority.  The CA largely deliver capital and revenue intensive transport schemes.

Leeds has the worst mass transit public transport provision of any city in the Europe, it also as a direct result has some of the worst congestion. For many using a private vehicle is the only option for commuting.  The new tram infrastructure is required and if Government won't pay the cost from general taxation someone else has to.

The businesses in the centre must be there because it gives them an advantage, as there are already much cheaper places to be located than the centre of Leeds.
