 seems to be based on the prospect of councils being allowed to increase the price of council issued fines and the review of price caps, motorists being treated harsher than shoplifters etc

lots of talk about fines, got the feeling it is going to be confusing council tickets Penalty charge notices - aka PCNs  and PPC tickets called parking charge notices which by a sheer co-incidence is also shortened to PCN

2hr 48 onto hospital parking paid for 24hrs, but ticket was only valid upto midnight

Finally the DFT are waking up to the fact that existing rates offer zero deterrant, with it often being cheaper to risk a fine than pay for parking.

Just to prove I don't disagree with our private parking stooge on everything out of principle, I actually received a penalty for making a one letter typo on a council parking app a few months ago. I paid £2 for parking at the wrong location, thus saving myself £19 I think. The PCN was £25. 

Of course, deterrence had no effect because I attempted to pay (although I did think it was strangely cheap). 

No problem personally with £50 being the minimum amount for council PCNs.

But then again, they're backed by proper legislation and decent signage. Not like our "knock a sign up in Word and cram as much text in as possible" private friends.

Not quite what was said. He was asked if people should pay if they feel the charge is unfair etc and the response was not to pay; but follow the appeals process.

But Willy knows he makes cash for every appeals claim he gets. And the parking company doesn't mind paying him because he will always find in their favour.
