"Andrew Pester, BPA Chief Executive said “Our Association continues to build its engagement with the international parking association community to share best practice, collaborate and much more. Consequently, we are delighted to be a founding member of the new EPA 2.0. This is a historic step for the EPA and I congratulate Nigel Williams and Manny Rasores on their appointments.”"

Here is Euro Car Parks and the BPA still pretending that it's fair to issue PCNs where the useless machine causes a keypad error:

    Get real, eh, BPA?

You know the new Code is coming in 2024. How about falling in line with it NOW instead of spouting your failed Code that will be replaced?

I'm sure you and ECP are aware that the IA is coming in to address 'MARKET FAILURE'.

The truth clearly hurts...I doubt Derek (your hired loophole lawyer) liked reading that phrase but he won't have been surprised by it, as some of you were.  Someone actually QUESTIONED that phrase, at the DLUHC webinar, which shows how tone deaf someone is!  How we laughed.

I'm surprised the DLUHC chaps and chapesses kept straight faces. Well done them.

If you don't realise that an entire industry being forcibly regulated by Government action is OBVIOUSLY a case of Market Failure, then you don't understand the reasons for an IA.

Your members called for an IA.  I think ECP were one of those behind all this. So you got what you asked for.  What did you expect the rationale for the IA would be?!

What part in that Government declared MARKET FAILURE don't you think BPA firms and your gradually watered down (IMHO rip-off enabling) CoPs played, over the years?

Interesting article about how flawed reliance upon ANPR is, so says the outgoing Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner, Professor Fraser Sampson:

    https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/uk-world-news/anpr-camera-chief-blasts-staggeringly-8822504.amp

Prof Sampson said: “I wanted to ensure that you are aware of the significant and enduring risks arising from the country’s Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system.” He said the expansion of schemes such as the Ultra Low Emission Zones (ULEZ) depends on the system working accurately, and said members of the ANPR Independent Advisory Group (IAG), which he chairs, have repeatedly expressed concerns at the creeping extension of ANPR functions into non-policing areas.

He said there was only 97 per cent accuracy of reading number plates - which means a staggering 2.4 million wrong number plates being flagged each day and innocent drivers getting fined.

Prof Sampson said he was writing to the Information Commissioner about the accuracy level leading to so many false plate readings.

He said the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice is the sole legal instrument directly governing ANPR camera systems and it will be abolished by the Data Protection and Digital Information (No.2) Bills, subject to the will of Parliament, after which time there will be no individual or organisation with direct responsibility for overseeing or reporting on their operation."

    Related to that:

    https://techmonitor.ai/policy/privacy-and-data-protection/police-cctv-code-of-conduct

"A code of conduct governing the use of CCTV cameras by police and local authorities is set to be scrapped when the government’s new data protection bill is made law. It is feared the changes, which see all use of CCTV cameras fall under the control of data regulator the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), will mean there is less scrutiny."
