Apologies if this is an unnecessary diversion.

I had assumed on pay at the pump I was limited to £99 regardless of whether my van was full or not, and that's what I did. My son borrowed my van recently and put in £125. I asked how he managed that, and he said he put in £99, put back in his card and put in another £26.

Is that standard? Reauthorising works after you've hit your limit?

It's only a limit per transaction so you can do as many transactions in a row as you want.

Interesting one. Never get close 👀
I take it the £125 was 2 seperate transactions?

But think before the change it only authorised for £1 or £2. All it is doing is checking the card is live & that funds are available.

Yes - two transactions. He authorised it, filled it until the pump stopped, then immediately put in the same card and authorised it again. This time it only took £26.

Hmm, I tried that previously at an Asda PAP and it wouldn't let me use the same card again

The £99 limit is set by the retailer, it's not a fixed/industry wide thing. I think Costco is higher, £125 from memory.
