Just tried a payment from my current account to my main account elsewhere for under £20 and it’s pending. This is ridiculous!

I think before I transfer out a large amount, I'll message them a couple of days before hand. Stipulating amount and date money will transferred.

Hopefully they can pre authorise the transaction.

same issue here tried to transfer £5k last week noticed a couple of days later it wasn't in the barclays account i'd asked to be paid and saw it's still pending for security clearance at chase

i'd had no calls or messages from chase so went on the app last night and queried it ....
I have seen this comment from a few posters now and find it curious as I had an SMS from Chase as soon as I tried my transfer, informing me that it would require a security check, and then a big yellowish bordered paragraph on the transaction, stating that it requires security check.

Though the in-app message did state not to worry, automated process, a few hours -  Yeah right. Still waiting!
The only time I've ever had a message from Chase about a transfer, it was a push notification telling me the transaction was flagged as suspicious and that I needed to phone them to get it released. I have had transactions stuck as pending for times varying from minutes to a couple of hours, but no message about any of these.
I had five such notifications within one week.  Each one telling me of  an "unusual transaction"; despite each transaction being identical to the one that preceded it: same amount, same payee, same bank details.

At the same time, I can't recall any payment from Chase not being sorted promptly and politely after contacting them, unlike the experience of many others here.   Having to be on the phone for a couple of hours each time has been Santander's speciality.

So those were all transactions that required your intervention? As opposed to those that are just delayed for minutes to hours by automated checks (which seems to be all transactions recently). Just trying to clarify if the latter ever results in a notification for those people who have been having more problems than me.

Just tried to transfer £5k to my main current account - the one I use to transfer in to Chase, and where I've done similar sized transfers previously. Received a text as described above, suggesting they would call me. Checked in the app to find that it's an automatic process that may take a few hours. I guess they have a really slow computer.

Had problems paying for car tax online using chase today , app just kept up saying error encountered instead of authorisation approval
Gave up and used different card which worked first time

I did that in April. made no difference tbh.

In fact, they did inform me that advance notice made no difference.

Still had to jump through the hoops. Only a lot quicker than currently. About ten minutes on the phone.

Suggest you send them a live chat message detailing the issues you've faced. The general performance of the app has not been good and I raised this with them a couple of days ago. Between this and transfer woes, it is going to do their reputation no good.
  • Typical. They ring me when I have no signal in the shopping centre. 2.5 hours I had waited.

    Back of the queue again!

Sorry, those five weren't notifications, they were texts. All asked me to call them from the support tab in the app, and all payments were put through immediately after I confirmed just the payee, the sum, and nothing else.  As the payment instruction had just been given using the app on that phone, it wasn't obvious to me quite what that added to security.  As usual, I asked for a call-back rather than queue, and all were pretty swift.

Yesterday, I got another text for a payment saying it would be delayed and that they may call.  I called them instead, as I always do immediately now if a payment is to be delayed - which means most payments. I was told the wait would be over an hour, and asked for a call-back.  Was all sorted in around half an hour including getting a notification that had to be acknowledged. Unlike with Santander, there has never been a need to transfer me anywhere.

So my experience has been that, while too many payment delays have seemed unnecessary,  they haven't been too traumatic to resolve.  In most cases, the return call has been by wi-fi  from the US.
