Interestingly, in my experience, the checks they then do, seem unlikely to add much to security.  They seem to think that calling them from my registered phone is enough to prove it's me calling, when all it proves is that whoever is calling has access to my phone.
Well, it's still an extra check.

I am sure you would be the first to complain if someone was transferring out money from your account without additional checks...

I don't think they are doing those just to annoy people or delay money being transferred out.

Getting rid of Chase and putting it in a 1 year fixed.
That's interesting, considering inflation and likely BoE interest rate increases. You are basically betting that nothing will beat your fixed rate for months.

Best 1 year fix is now 2.57%. Base rate is 1%, best easy access rate is 1.56%. The bet is therefore that interest rates do not go up by more than 2%/year on average over the next year. If easy access reaches the fixed rate within 6 months (half the fixed term), then that would be a bad sign. Seems unlikely to me, but we'll see.

This has put me off topping up Chase more than I already have TBH. Will monitor how it goes with the issues people face.

    Back on to the Chase.

Finally my money has transferred across. It took multiple messages on the app and a phone call to them. After that I got a call back and the transfer was completed immediately after that.

As previous contributors have said the people I spoke with were very very polite and apologetic. I am hoping that it is a short term problem that will be fixed and I am ok with giving them that opportunity before I dash off somewhere else.

Same here. Left call back at 7.45 this morning, just heard from them 10 minutes ago and the transfer came through almost immediately.
  • same issue here tried to transfer £5k last week noticed a couple of days later it wasn't in the barclays account i'd asked to be paid and saw it's still pending for security clearance at chase

i'd had no calls or messages from chase so went on the app last night and queried it ....
I have seen this comment from a few posters now and find it curious as I had an SMS from Chase as soon as I tried my transfer, informing me that it would require a security check, and then a big yellowish bordered paragraph on the transaction, stating that it requires security check.

Though the in-app message did state not to worry, automated process, a few hours -  Yeah right. Still waiting!

The only time I've ever had a message from Chase about a transfer, it was a push notification telling me the transaction was flagged as suspicious and that I needed to phone them to get it released. I have had transactions stuck as pending for times varying from minutes to a couple of hours, but no message about any of these.

Perhaps make an attempt to comprehend what has been written before making daft assertions about someone you don't know.
