Pen-Pin, just popped in to send you love and hugs, keep your chin up. Well wishes to your DH too, hope he was very brave.

I do read everyones news but I lead a very quiet boring life so don't have much to say and we don't do much for Christmas. Very bad memories.

    Enjoy your evening everybody.

Mrs MW - sorry you have bad memories of christmas thats really sad:o btw you are not boring well no more than any of the rest of us anyway:D

    N9eav - have a fab holiday:j

Had a lovely day with my mate today - we did lunch first and then hit the shops for a bit of Christmas pressy shopping which I was totally amazed to find quite empty (well there were parking spaces near the door so that is empty to me:D )

Bought a top for me to wear tomorrow, a belt for me, a hairband for me, a Christmas teatowel for me and a measuring jug for me..................so I have come home and checked my pressy list with a big marker pen to strike out any presents bought to find that.................mmmm............still looks the same:o :o I dont think I quite have the idea of this christmas shopping lark yet what do you reckon:rotfl: Hey ho good job santa is on his way eh;)

Anyway tonight I have no more complex plans than a few glasses of wine the fire on and some crappy tv:T

    Have a fun evening all
    hugs Nels xx
  • Hi all
Big hugs to PP, sorry you have had bad news, sorry about the chicken too, & a very careful hug to your DH.
Mrs MW, please post, my posts are boring, but it doesn't stop me posting.

The lodger cooked us Caribean style curry & dumpling today, the curry was lovely, tho a bit hotter than I like, not sure about the dumpling, it was flat hard & heavy, not like an English dumpling. Still it was very kind of her.
The tree is up & decorated & all my Christmants ornaments are out on display, I just wish I could put hubby in the attic in place of the decorations, he's such a grumpy s*d, he hates Christmas. The lodger has gone out, she wants some Aki (sp) to go with her salt fish?
I've just phoned DD she's now housebound as she has something wrong with her pelvis & has been told to rest.

Hi again, well made some headway with the paper war, so feel a bit better for that. DH took 2 car loads of cardboard to the local dump, so we can get in the garage again. I think about 3 degrees is the warmest it has been all day here.

Cards written for friends we are seeing tonight at least.

((hugs)) Pen-Pin and don't forget to share your problems with us, we can't take them away but we can listen.

:T :j DS's official Graduation Photos arrived, so we have a family photo too now.

Just cooking gammon and oven chips for tea, before we go off out.

    Have a nice evening

  • Hi again

Hugs to PEN PIN sounds like things are rough. Also hugs to everyone who feels rotten at this time of year, I know it's not fun for everyone.

Had a nice lunch at a country pub with Mum and Dad. DS is being a right little s*d at the moment and OH is dying of man-flu. Thank God I have my parents to keep me sane.

Then DS and I came home and put up the Chritmas decs. He's been lovely since. Tea was beefburgers, HM rolls and salad.

Have bottled my blackberry vodka and sloe gin today. I don't think I can drink much of it as it's so strong. :p Also made my cranberry sauce. Will finish off my cards to night. Only need to make mince pies now and write 4,000 word essay  .

    Hi,

A big hug to Penny Pincher.

Yesterday I went to see DD2's Xmas show which was very good and then I went into work to help with our reception class nativity. Unfortunately Mary had stage fright and would only go on stage if she could sit on my lap, so I tried my best to look like a chair! :rotfl:

Today DD1 has spent the day at her friend's and then she's staying for a sleep-over to celebrate her friend's birthday. They will be eating pizza, watching the X Factor and having a chocolate fountain...her idea of heaven!
I took DD2 to see Father Christmas as I think it will be the last year that she completely believes in him. He was quite a good one, much better than the one in the community centre that we took some of our pupils to see...Santa was being played by a woman! I don't think she convinced anyone! :rotfl:
We had a take-a-way pizza for tea and tonight I'm hoping to get some more present wrapping done.
    Have a good evening.

I have been resting all morning as we are off into London to meet ds's gf's parents for the first time this afternoon and we are all off for a meal at the Amalfi restaurant and then going to see Stephen Frys Cinderella so that should cheer us all up. Will be a quiet day for us tomorrow though!

Hi, I hope you don't mind me intruding (I do read most days but haven't yet plucked up the courage to post much as I don't really have anything interesting to say :o ) but I'd love to hear how you got on at the panto as this is the one I've booked to go and see next week! I love Stephen Fry's humour so really looking forward to see his take on Cinderella :D

While I'm here, just want to give hugs to Penny Pincher and hope you (and your OH) start to feel better soon. It's horrible feeling low at this time of year isn't it. I've been feeling pretty down myself this past week and can't seem to shake it off :(

I had so much planned to do today but didn't manage to get out of bed until 6pm :o Since then I've wrapped one present and completely ignored the mass of housework that has been building up over the last couple of weeks :o

I really need someone to give me a kick up the backside, and as much as I hate the phrase "pull yourself together" that is exactly what I need to do right now :o

Sorry to bring doom and gloom to the thread, I promise not to post again unless I have something more cheerful to contribute. Hope you're all having a lovely evening :xmassmile

PS donny-gal your kitchen looks fab! I'm having mine done in the new year and dreading all the upheaval lol but it will be worth it in the end. I really like that laminate flooring you've got, looks exactly what I want for my living room, do you mind telling me which one you've chosen please?

Welcome Chameleon - i hope you carry on posting!!!

PP - Huge ((HUGS)) to you - and hope your OH will be feeling fine soon xxx

Nelski - love your Christmas shopping!!!

Well, DSs football went well - they won 4 - 0 so that was good. It was freezing, so very glad i had extra clothes on, although i need thicker socks, i was wearing 2 pairs and my toes still felt like blocks of ice!!!

We also went to Aldis, Morrisons and Tescos - if anyone likes those J20s, Aldis do a version for £1.99 which my children said were just as good, so slightly cheaper there!!!

We then came home and i ended up making spare ribs for DS and me and we all had HM chips - shouldve been pizza, but we took too long out so didnt have time to make the base, so will do that later in the week now. I opened a bottle of wine, then sat back to enjoy SCD and XFactor - loved Rhydians version of 'Holy night'!!

So, just waiting for the result show - might watch it in bed, will be nice for us all to snuggle up together (im letting them stay up, so a late night for my 2 tonight).

Ok, hope everyone has had a lovely day and a really good evening.
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
