33p and 9p would be right at the cheapest end of any guess so far.0

"The Sun" are saying the following:
The current rates for those on a duel fuel tariff (standard variable tariff) that pay their bills by direct debit are:
- 7p per killowatt hour (p/kWh) for gas
- 28p/kWh for electricity
- A standing charge of 27p per day for gas
- A standing charge of 45p per day for electricity
Under the new Energy Price Guarantee, those with the same payment method, will pay a unit rate of, on average:
- 10.3p per killowatt hour (p/kWh) for gas
- 34p/kWh for electricity
- A standing charge of 27p per day for gas
- A standing charge of 45p per day for electricity
However, the amount you will pay will vary very slightly based on the company you're with, where you live and how you pay your bill.
Energy firms will be in touch with customers to explain the detail of what the new prices will be.

Based on my usage, I calculate the fix I went for, will cost £22 per year more that the new cap. I'll wait and see what is going to happen with the fixed rate but seems likely I can at least revert to the cap without penalty. Though it does mean I paid an extra £50 each month in August and September by taking the fix instead of staying with the cap0

I must do the maths for the 6ish week period I was on my very expensive fix. The spreadsheet I have which shows monthly as average over the year shows that the fix was £130 more than svt per month. Thankfully the weeks I was fixed just happened to be the lowest consumption period of the year.0

Did you change back to the variable cap from the fix I've had no info off british gas since the email on the 9th September. I've sent messages of there facebook page but they don't reply I'm thinking of dropping to the variable and going to bulb as bg is a joke.RL11 said:Based on my usage, I calculate the fix I went for, will cost £22 per year more that the new cap. Staying on the fix until I know what they are going to charge me. As far as I can tell they will match the cap if the fix is higher and/or advise if it's cheaper to go to the capped tariff, so I don't see a need to do anything at the moment.
BG have always been fine for me. I've switched dozens of times and they're all the same as far as I've experienced. Maybe I've just been lucky in never having a problem that's needed me to contact the supplier0 -
BG website:
Customers on our fixed-rate tariffs will also benefit from the Energy Price Guarantee
If you’re currently on one of our fixed-rate tariffs that are priced above the Energy Price Guarantee, we'll automatically discount your unit rates from 1st October. If the discount does not bring you in line with Energy Price Guarantee, we'll be in touch by letter or email with the option to switch to our standard variable tariff to ensure you're offered the cheapest tariff.

Thanks for the reply RL11 I've had a really bad experience with bg they cancelled all my bills and gave me electric only bills even though I had gas with them I was £2000 in credit it took me 6 month of back and forth and wasted many hours of my life. Very frustrating with no compensation offered.RL11 said:Staying on the fix until I know what they are going to charge me. Just got this email from BG:
As your current Loyalty Jun 23v2 tariff is cheaper than the EPG, you’re best to stay on this until it ends on 30th June 2023. We’ll be in touch before your tariff ends to explain your options.
