LOL! The hot tub was off over winter  :# The bills have been pretty hard to stomach - family of 4 in a 4 bed semi and we are pretty frugal with everything. Based on these figures is the new deal going to benefit me then? I'm watching Martin's video again but getting confused!!

Its so hard to say.  The electric price looks high.  Did you get an offer around the June Fix as per the start of this thread?  Maybe worth ringing them?

I would definitely be having a look at where all that energy is going - must be something wrong. My record annual usage with five adults (three adult children) was 6020 Electric and 14717 Gas. With just me and my wife left at home I'm down to 4554 Elec and 7305 Gas. I found electric underfloor heating being used unknowingly (via a timer) and having the combi boiler set way too high  and being on too long was eating gas unnecessarily.

@RL11 thanks. We did discover water was being heated unnecessarily during the day for 3 hours so hoping we will see a difference there. We've cut that right back to 1.5 hr in the morning and 1 hr in the evening. The underfloor heating in our kitchen is totally off now - ordinarily we would still have it on during the summer via thermostat. Working at home, I'm powering a laptop every day but never had the heating on over the winter during the day. Kids have usual phones / laptops etc.

Do you have TRVs on the radiators? We managed to cut the gas down by turning them to 1 in unused rooms, 2 in bedrooms and making sure doors were closed to zone areas. Curtains closed at dusk in all rooms. Main thermostat (moved to living room) kept at 18. Heating only on 6.30am to 10pm, no overnight heating. Your kids might need warmer bedrooms if they spend a lot of time there though.

Do you have a giant plasma screen TV? That's a lot of electric, needs investigating lol

  • Can I ask for yet another opinion on the British Gas tariffs?

I am about to come off a historic People’s Energy tariff and would have to go onto a British Gas SVR. I have been offered x2 1 year fix. Advice?

My current estimated usage is annual - gas 7255.58 kwh and electric 5442 kwh
