Do you really use that much hot water? We found we really only use hot water for showers, we have a dishwasher so don't need to wash up etc.

I've turned the boiler down so hot water is at 55C. I know there's only 2 of us and you have a bigger household but we heat the water for 40 minutes in the morning now. It will do 3 showers, hubby's shave and some left for washing hands etc. If we do want a bath we pop it back on manually for 15 minutes.

Are you sure your gas usage is correct?  In your other thread @QrizB makes it about 15900kWh.
Thanks Gerry1, I thought this thread seemed familiar!
@jojo24601 if you want my opinion (and you might not), it's still as written in that other thread. If you like a gamble, stick on the SVT. If you'd prefer the certainty of a fix, take it.

Thank you… sorry I didn’t mean to duplicate … I panicked earlier and didn’t know the best place to post it. I won’t be asking on another thread again. Really appreciate all your help.

Absolutely I think this is something I can look at … thank you for sharing what you do … it helps for comparison. Everyone has been so helpful today. I am hoping I can sleep tonight after a night of worrying.

Well, if you can cut your use in half it doesn't matter so much if prices double.

Try it a little bit at first, then a bit more if you still have plenty of hot water. We started on 90 mins a day and knocked it down 10 mins every few days.

Brilliant thank you - I also wonder if it’s worth me investing in a thermos flask… I work from home and am always boiling the kettle.

It's a lot of messing about, I reckon it's easier to try and just boil the amount you need. You could empty the kettle, fill the cup you'll use with water and pour that in the kettle. Or just not put too much in the kettle.
