I have all the numbers but I don't know what to do with them!
Would someone be kind enough to tell me what I need to do with these figures? I have pulled all my information together regarding my current tariff and the cheapest tariff offered by BG.
I have no idea how to work it out - I apologise for asking! I am panicking about it all ....
Thanks
Jo

Can you get your Gas actual usage for the last year rather than estimated?

I'm guessing (because you haven't told us) that you are trying to compare the cost of a future fix against your current costs?
Add both standing charges together, then multiply by 365.
That makes your current charge (27.22+ 37.918) x 365 = £237.75 per annum.
The BG fix works out at (44.083 + 30.645) x 365 = £272.75
Then multiply the unit cost by the estimated usage
Your gas works out at 5194.05 x 7.344 = £381.45
The fix is 5194.05 x 10.507 = £545.73
The electricity is 29.24 x 5218.26 = £1,525.81
The fix is 36.236 x 5218.26 = £1890.88
TOTAL current is £2,145.01 (£179 per month)
TOTAL anticipated fix is £2709.36 (£226 per month)
I'm not sure if you might need to add 5% VAT to these figures.
As an aside - your gas consumption is low compared with your (high) electricity consumption.

Hi Mrs F - where would I find this figure? I just checked my last bill and it only has estimated on.Mrs_F_2017 said:Can you get your Gas actual usage for the last year rather than estimated?0 -
Thank you for this - I need to sit down when the children aren't around and read it again in details.JGB1955 said:I'm guessing (because you haven't told us) that you are trying to compare the cost of a future fix against your current costs?

My electricity baffles me too - could it be the tumble dryer?0 -
Welcome to the forum. You seem to be doing something very wrong: if accurate, your gas consumption is less than half the average but your electricity is getting on towards double the average. What do you use for heating? If you have gas CH, you shouldn't be using electricity for any heating: it costs four times as much as gas. So no oil filled radiators, fan heaters, convectors, panel radiators, immersion heaters, electric showers etc.0

Yes you are correct in assuming I am comparing my current standard variable against a fix offered by British Gas.JGB1955 said:I'm guessing (because you haven't told us) that you are trying to compare the cost of a future fix against your current costs?

I cannot thank you enough for your help JGB!
So I can see the Fix is roughly £300 more than the standard variable ... however ... am I better switching to this now rather than waiting for the price increases coming in the future?
