@WinterWarrior That's a truly great lesson learned! Your Dad definitely had the last laugh even though he was unhappy with the comment made.

Yes I agree @shell16 :) I think I shall take a look into some camping locations close to us and see how much it costs to have an adventure on our own soil!

Oooh my £16 sale from Vinted has hit my bank account so I have just transferred that straight to CC2 as my second PAD :)

  • We have just come back from Spain last month, it was amazing but spent so much more than planned whilst we were there!!
I have put myself on the flights banned list for at least the next year lol to concentrate on the debt, I am considering trying to squeeze in a trip to a caravan around August though if I can get through the next few months with it built into the budget.
RE the chores, I didn't necessarily mean for money I just wondered with there ages - Mine make there beds and very little else, without feeling like Cinderella so always interested what others are doing. xx

That's the trouble on holidays isn't it? Spending just happens!  :D I think I shall be jumping on that bandwagon with you and not book anything for next year. The satisfaction of drilling further into my debts and also getting some more of the house renovated would probably make me feel better long term instead of a sunny week abroad.

Oh sorry! Misinterpreted the chore thing! My two are 9 and 7 and I actively encourage them to do everything I do :) Make beds, change bedding, take plates to sink after tea, sweep up, put a load of washing on etc. xx

In other news, school are trying to bankrupt me by arranging a year 5 school trip to Chester Aquarium the day costing £30 each! That plus an outstanding fee for the traditional Y6 trip away for a few days at £60 comes to £90 in total! Luckily I put away the leftovers of CSA money for a rainy day into the emergency fund so I have taken the £88 back out to pay for both trips. Back down to £250 in my EF but at least I now don't have to worry about my son missing out on anything.

Getting my nails done again for £27 this evening before the holiday. This is the second and last time as I am trying to break the near 30 year habit of nail biting :( So far so good with growing them out!

Found out that my in-post parcel hasn't been collected (worth £13) due to a system issue at the locker so I am waiting to hear back from customer support regarding whether it is still in the locker or whether it has been taken. Praying it is still there as I don't want to lose that sort of contribution towards my debt :(

    Morning folks,

Another PAD of £3 this morning to CC2 alongside a £2 payment to CC2 also from a Vinted purchase. Things plodding along steadily. Not feeling as lively as normal today as work is bothering me :( Struggling for work to do and when speaking to boss about it, he suggests having a go at doing what I have already done (he told me to do the same thing a few weeks ago so I have done it but he seems to have forgotten and now doesn't really want to accept I have done it 100%). It puts me on a massive low as I am sat there for 8.5 hours a day whilst everyone else has something to do! Drives me mad as I am not one for sitting there not being busy! Shall ask him again today but I know he will only tell me to do the same as what I have already done :( Fighting a losing battle and makes me not want to ask at all :(

£165 left in the current account at the moment with only two days to go until payday. Tomorrow evening is when the big PAD will be made and I honestly cannot wait to knock off whatever amount I end up being able to afford. I know I need to fuel up all the way (£50ish from the level of my fuel tank now) in prep for our journey to my family to drop off the dog before driving back up north to the airport. Still due £150 bill contribution from the other half tomorrow so I would like to think I will roughly have around £260 left to throw at CC2. This doesn't include the £25 DD that goes to it on the 13th or the £75 extra I have managed to save to add to the £260 :) And there is of course the dribs and drabs from my Vinted sales so all in all, not a bad first month I suppose :)

  • I think you have had an excellent first month! It's all about finding your feet for the first few months and settling into a budget whilst your mindset changes. To have got to pay day with so much left is brilliant!

I know what you mean about keeping busy, when it's quiet the day just seems to drag... I much prefer being busy

Well done on the Vinted sales, mine have gone quiet again

@LittleMissDetermined many thanks for your kind words! I hate not being busy at work :(

Glad I have remains in my bank account. Toying with the idea of perhaps taking the pressure off a tiny bit to have CC2 paid off in just over 5 months. Think I may stretch it to the 7 months which is when the 0% interest runs out. I am only thinking of doing this as I am having to use £200 of my emergency fund in the next 4 weeks for horse transport to the vets as it isnt covered by insurance so if I drop from the £400+ I wanted to pay to CC2 each month to the standard monthly payment to clear being £331 it should allow a small amount of extras funds to help build the EF back up.

Morning @Deleted_User! Luckily its all inclusive! I don't have any spending money put aside as of yet as I wouldn't normally venture out or buy anything. However with getting paid on Friday I will exchange £100 for one small excursion (if anything suits) or the hire of a pedalo boat/banana boat ride :) Not looking to spend much if at all whilst over there really. x
