  • You sound to be doing amazing!!! Well done on sticking with the fair budget, and fingers crossed for the huge PAD potentially, I am sure that would be a massive motivator seeing the numbers drop so much in one month!! 😬

Many thanks for stopping by @WatchedByOwls! Luckily for me, the company finally replied to my message and said they were very negligent on their part and have since refunded me the amount owed so that was a huge relief! Seems the merely the mention of Trading Standards and the Ombudsman is all you need to make them sweat and cough up!

It would be very lovely @Throughmyfingers! Here's to hoping its achievable as it would be the best possible extra motivation to keep ploughing into it all!

Well I have made yet another £5 PAD to CC2 as my bank account is still a lovely round figure. Child benefit was paid this morning so thats always helpful towards the next food shop. Yesterday was a NSD can you believe!?! Some funds got shuffled about the current account into pots but no actual money was spent! Hurrah! Breaking my one day streak today as a food shop is needed. However with us flying to Turkey on Saturday and with still a reasonable amount in the cupboards/fridge I think the food shop will come to around £25.. perhaps not even that. I do have another two Vinted parcels to post today and the vast majority of my original parcels have now been collected from couriers. There is still one big one left in the locker which I haven't received notification of it being collected yet even though it went in at the same time as the others (panic....it was £13 worth), so hopefully with bank holiday being over it should be picked up. I had my first Vinted payment yesterday after someone receiving a pair shorts. Sure its £1.50 but its there ready and waiting to be transferred to my PAD pot for the big CC2 payment.

Payday is in 4 days!!! This means only 3 days until I can completely wipe my bank account of any remaining funds before being paid the following morning. So excited to see what figure I can collate! Apologies in advance as I will no doubt repeat myself regarding potential payments or workings out.... my fingers can't keep up on the keyboard for the excitement I am feeling towards taking a sledgehammer to CC2 in 3 days! Hoping I can slightly decrease the time it takes to wipe the total amount owed on this card so I can attack CC1 a little sooner.

Oooh almost forgot! I set up my children's pocket money with the Starling Kite card as I feel they are now old enough to teach them about budgeting and spending (9 and 7). I decided on sending money every week to match half their age and its up to them to spend how they please. My eldest was so keen to save all his to buy a tv and xbox but as soon as the new season of Fortnite came out he scrapped that idea and said he wanted to spend it on Vbucks.... typical! My little girl is much more reserved and wants to save hers as she doesn't know what she wants yet. Either way, I do wish the government would scrap all the silly debates in Citizenship at High School and instead replace it with learning about money/budgeting/cost of living etc.

Sorry, these messages are getting longer! Better to be enthusiastic I suppose?!  :D

Have you seen Martin Lewis’ finance/money text books? They’re free so you could maybe spend an hour each week with them or even 30 mins and go through the basics 🤷🏻‍♀️

Morning folks :) Won't be a long one from me this morning you shall be happy to know as its 'Back to School/Work' day for us all so I can't put my fingers on cruise control typing here!

@Throughmyfingers personally I am not a massive fan of paying my children to help me look after the house. I have always instilled in them that they clean up after themselves and help me when asked for nothing in return. Lucky for me its now embedded so they now do anything I do house-chore wise :) I just decided that they would benefit from having an account like me and to learn first hand that you can't have everything in one go.

I received £6.50 from Vinted last night so that shot straight back out the account onto CC2. Only 98p PAD is heading there today after rounding down. Almost bought a £3000 holiday to Egypt for June 2023 but I either had to put a £300 deposit down (would take all my overpayments to CC2 off me) or I needed to set up a DD to pay £362 for the next 8 months! Perhaps someone is trying to tell me something up there as when I put in my details for the DD it kept saying that the name and date of birth didn't match the lead passenger.... checked 100000 times and it 100% matched so it wouldn't let me book :( I don't want to miss out on these holidays with my family especially considering nobody has gone anywhere for the last 2 years so I don't know whether to try again and book it or to just leave it until we return from Turkey.

I would say don’t do it. Holidays are nice, but being debt free is nicer. Once you have paid everything off and are debt free you could save up and pay cash for the next one…how wonderful would that be?

Thank you for the advice @WinterWarrior! I think I will leave it and perhaps much nearer the time try to find a great last minute deal in the UK. Would work out to be a lot cheaper and it wouldn't discourage me from not being able to throw as much money as I would like at my debts. Shall just treasure this holiday all the more until 2024 when fingers crossed I can buy in cash :) What a feeling that would be!

A debt free holiday would be amazing and all the nicer for being stress free I think. I always remember my dad saying someone at work had teased him about replacing his car and he’d answered that no one could take his away from him. Not much later the firm folded and all the sales people lost their fancy company cars. Dad still had his (and he got a new job straight away). He was quite disgruntled about the comment at the time 😬 What’s more annoying is it took me another twenty odd years before that comment actually sunk in with me…I’m slow like that 🙄

    Morning @Squirrelz92

A holiday is a nice thing to go on but I would personally keep up with debt repayments or book something less expensive in the UK or a last minute getaway bargain to Europe.

  • Amen Winter Warrior. I don't have the money for a holiday UK or abroad but that's OK as I'm paying my debts. We will still have day trips but low cost. I'm saving up for summer holidays and aim to have £250 by the end of July. This will be all the money for the summer.

While your holiday in the sun sounds bloody amazing I know it's not sensible for me to even consider it and that's OK. I had to listen to a distant friend sharing about their holiday abroad x 2 in the summer. It hurt and I felt sad but not enough to go further into debt.
Keep aiming for that debt free feeling xxx
