I'M BACK!!! Returned from our holiday to Turkey and what an experience it was! Where to begin...

Ok, so I haven't done any PAD's whilst I have been away as I wanted to solely focus on enjoying family time without my phone :)
Lots to tell, starting with the holiday package itself! We were due to fly on Saturday after lunch but as we were about to set off they emailed telling us that the flight had been cancelled and were hoping to fly us out the following day :( naturally gutted as we missed a day of our long awaited trip! We also ended up an hour delayed on the way back and then stuck in the plane for a further 90 mins once grounded back in Manchester due to further faults with the connecting tunnel :( Needless to say the travelling side of things went horribly wrong but the holiday itself was a blast! Sooo worth the wait and already trying to decide which holiday village to book next in what country :D.

Thankfully we were entitled to compensation being £350 each plus £150 holiday voucher to use when booking our next holiday. So in the next 14 days I will receive £1400, £350 of which will go to my partner but the other £1050 will be to do as i please with. Playing with the idea of bunking it all into my EF which currently still stands at £488.29. Or I add the amount needed which will get me to my £1000 EF goal and then plough the rest into CC2.... hmmmm ...

My refund of £144 came through for Molly's euthanasia claim but they had charged me twice for my excess which they shouldn't as its all under one claim. So now I am expecting a further £79.20 in the next 5 days to make up the full amount. With being so short for cash this month, the plan was to put all this reimbursement this straight into my EF, but I decided not to as the funds are looking a little bleak. Once the other £79.20 comes through I shall throw this into there I think.

After arriving home earlier this afternoon, I decided to get as many jobs done as possible knowing I will be wanting to have a bubble bath and an early night after no sleep for almost 24 hours. All suitcases have been unpacked, two loads of washing done (the last about to be hung out to dry), the food shop done and unpacked and dog food purchased :) Total spend of £65.41 but needs must!

A £25 payment was made to CC2 on the 13th (shall add to PAD thread and signature in a minute) and I currently have £11.80 in round ups ready to put towards CC2 also. Waiting for £2.50 to land in my account from my last Vinted sale before flying which will also be thrown over there.

It's great to be back to my daily logs! I have missed it! Hope you are all well :)

Many thanks @Deleted_User! It certainly feels like a positive step in itself that I'm excited to get stuck back in with paying off my debts :)

  • Welcome back @Squirrelz92, glad you had a good holiday and what result for the compensation! I think I would use it to fill your EF and then send surplus to your debts. Then you know you have the full EF in case of emergencies and any extra you can pay can be thrown at debts.

Nice to see you're back on with your DF diary, I find that I miss it when i'm away so I usually do some updates if I can :)

It's good to be back in debt busting action @LittleMissDetermined event though I have very much enjoyed my holiday :)

Yes I do agree with you there! Received my £79.20 this morning from the insurance company so will pop that into the EF today bringing my total pot to £567.49. I know this amount wont last long with my car MOT and service looming but at least it will be £560 less on the CC for repairs!

Small update: £2.50 just hit my bank from my last Vinted sale so that has gone straight to CC2. The £79.20 has now been transferred to my EF :)

    Morning folks,

Back to the usual routine after holibobs of mucking out at 5.30am before looking at finances before work at the office :) So glad that the great weather has continued on after arriving back on Sunday! Helps ease back into reality a bit better!

Made £1.43 PAD this morning to CC2. Got my latest bill for the equine vets being almost £3000 but they have yet to send off the claim form so not going to panic about that until they have paid out their share and a new bill is reissued to me with what I actually owe. At the moment I am guessing around the £800 mark (puke) as my excess is £160 plus 17% of charges thereafter. Bloody horses! Aah well... at least I can pay 0% interest with them over a period of time. Don't need to cripple myself trying to pay it off in one go. Although the thought has crossed my mind for when I apply for a new balance transfer to simply pay this off on the new CC so my debts are more tidy instead of spread out all over the place. Shall cross that bridge when I come to it!

  • Hello @Squirrelz92

Thanks for stopping by my diary  :)

Glad you had a nice holiday although the travelling does seem like a pain!

Definitely agree with the plan for compensation to go to EF and then debt. Loving your positive attitude!

Ahhh I'm so glad you all had a great holiday even with the delays, and I agree that the compensation is great and putting it in your emergency fund will put you in a good position moving forward.

You're incredibly impressive with unpacking and laundry! My suitcase tends to watch me from the corner of my room and I pretend I can't see it for the first week before I tackle it. I'll try your approach next time I go away lol.

If you can pay the equine bill over a period of time without stressing yourself out, then I'd say definitely do it. And if you do want to make it tidier with a balance transfer, then at least you've got it reduced by the time you cross that bridge.
