kazwookie said:TY Piggers, most interesting. While out walking I went to Holland and B, on the packet for Xylitol it says it is safe for diabetics, they also had Stevia, but the assistant reckoned that one is very sweet and can leave an after taste, so I left with nothing, while I do more reading, ty.Walking is doneWatching F1 qually.Weeding this afternoon
Stevia is not overly sweet at all. I have not found an aftertaste but I only use it in hot drinks. the artificial sweeteners leave a very chemically aftertaste. What I would suggest is transitioning from one to the other gradually. I had 3 sugars in my tea, I dropped 1 spoonful and added 1 sweetener every 2-3 days and never found it offensive. I use candarel in my ready brek and the tiny tabets in my tea and have done for 5 years.... I also have the sweetex ones.. super-dirt cheap.. total artificial sugar (sodium saccharin) but they live on my bag for when I go out.
Try somewhere where the staff are knowledgable like a proper health food shop, we have a fantastic little shop near us which sells whole foods and all things vegan and natural and they are often far more knowledgable because they live that life whereas those working in H&B are not experienced in health supplements or wholefoods.
Next stuff gathered from DD1's and she sent us home with a ton of fresh fruit and veg so I need to deal with that.. 3 sandwich bags of spinach and a million vine tomatoes. and many lettuce!
She said should couldn't fit anything in her fridge so I squeezed in 8 1litre cartons of oat milk.. she does not have my gift! lol .. and brought 36 more home to fit in my fridge until she needs them.washing in.DW loaded

Ah right, Kaz.. I would still avoid the ones with a laxative effect and stick with stevia or truvia (stevia mixed with erythritol) are absolutely best for cooking. You can get canderel stevia caster sugar if that is any use for baking? have you tried the chickpea cakes at all?? I think they are disgusting but lots of people do like them.. I don't like cake anyway so my opinion is not the best one to believe.
Twinkle is better when medicated, she has 3 medicines and some moisturiser which is keeping the worst of the itching at bay. She is still eating which is usully the biggest battle with her when she is unwell she stops eating but she hasn't this time. She is complaining of a sore throat though which usually means she is coming down with something snotty.. I'm hoping it is just dr.y because she has a temp. She is ok though, thank you, just unhappy when she is itchy so I am keeping on top of that as best I can.OH mincing the grass again.. it is starting to look like a garden out there. We are meant to be going to mil's on Tuesday but that depends on Twinkle.. if she feels grotty I might suggest he just takes the middle 2.. Squeak doesn't usually want to go anyway... or maybe suggest we go Thursday or Friday to give her a bit of recovery time.. MIL was on about taking us out for food but we can't do that on Tuesday because we would be sharing the pox.. we will play it by ear I guess.Dinner done and scoffed..
Bed time nextDW been on again so just tonights dinner pots to run through.2x WM loads to hang out.. but the kitchen it full of detritus so I really need to crash my way through that lot too. I migth do that next.
Girls need flinging in bed..

Hi all
Struggling a bit with the after effects of hospital with DS1. Its difficult to explain but even walking into that hospital sends me into a spin. I know some have it much worse and it looks like its "only" his Crohns this time but DS said earlier "this is s@@t Mum", and yeah it is, at 23 your health should be the last of your worries. Sorry all, I will be fine again in a day or two. Now we wait for the next appointment.
Pulled up some weeds, cleaned some windows, had a good catch up on the phone with big brother. Have opened a bottle of fizz I got for my birthday and found some crisps.

YL.. 'only' his crohns sounds like a win, it all just knocks you for 6 for a few days I know a hospital visit can be traumatic. I have to take Twinkle back in a couple of months for her blood checks.. and Moomin has another appointment before they book her leg surgery. which means no work for 8 weeks or more. It is PTSD I am sure.. we should get therapy when our children go through hard treatments. (((hugs))).

Thanks Pigpen. Mums friend is a retired nurse and she said exactly the same about PTSD. When you are a Mum you just feel like you have to be strong for them dont you? xx11

YL. you really do and you are told worst case scenarios and they are loud in your mind every minute. There really should be more support.
Moomin dropped at work.. knitting, tea and snacks on the cards for me!

MorningWLC since 4am.So I have sorted out the sticking door from yesterdays fitting, with a hammer on the frame bit and it now works, so OH can stop moaning at me, as I am getting a bit fed up of it. (OH moaning that is)I've oiled the curtain track (WD40 on kitchen roll)We have been for a walk around the local car boot, only about 8 sellers. It is like the middle of January here today, very cold northerly wind, big black rain clouds, awful, I've even got my very thick coat back out, once it has all passed, I'll be off out walking, OH won't come, but he is going to put his tent up, goodness knows why in this wind.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Kaz I did a lot of research into this, and I use Sukrin 1 and Sukrin Gold. I get them from Amazon and admittedly they are more expensive but they have no aftertaste and it's literally spoon for spoon for sugar.
I use them for cooking/baking and you really can't tell it's a sweetner.
I use them for my diabetes and also for my SW recipes now.
