Door man is here hanging the 2 doors and making one hell of a racket. So I am sat out of the way, trying to find sugar free cake mixes or similar.

Hello everyone xx Happy weekend xx
A slow start to the day. Lie in brain fog now slowly dissipating. I'm up, made my bed, sploshed bleach down the loo, brought down the laundry hamper, supped two brews and eaten breakfast. And read a few chapters of my book.

Kaz, there are some cake recipes here with very low sugar levels. I can't imagine how baked cod comes to be included in the search results, though!
A couple more admin jobs done since breakfast.
WMx1 of 2 started.
DH wants to go to the wargames shop in town, so I will drop him off on my way to MrAl's, which has just been refurbished. I hear that their sales lines have been "streamlined" and they no longer stock a number of popular items!?!? Hopefully I shall find everything that I want still there.

Morning all,
Gh flying has been done - tomato shoots removed. QHI ticked off, and other general rehoming of bits done.Off shortly to see DSiL and BiL. I have picked her a huge bunch of herbs from the garden, as they are really flourishing atm. It pleases her, as then it confirms that we are country bumpkins visiting the slick city types 🤣. 4 books and a bag of other “stuff” are leaving the house to go to her’s - out of this house is good.
Have a lovely day all. Gentle hugs to all poorlies x9 -
Iona thank you for the link, I had look at that site earlier, and am truly shocked at how much sugar is in some of the stuff they say have been checked by dieticians and is recommended etc. But have come across some artificial sweeteners called Stevia and Xylitol so going to do some research in to those to see what they actually are, what's actually in them and if they are suitable to diabetics.Cleaned the kitchen of dust, floor done, workman gone!!Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

"Xylitol vs. SteviaStevia is an herbal plant that belongs to the Asteraceae family. The stevia plant has been used for over 1,500 years by the Guaraní people of Brazil and Paraguay.
Is xylitol or stevia better? While the message is a little cloudy about xylitol side effects, of the 345+ scientific papers referencing stevia, one message is clear: It is safe and effective.
As stated in a recent critical evaluation, stevia “has a low glycemic index and, in the doses tested, is not cytotoxic nor has acute or chronic effect on blood sugar, which makes it a safe sweetener.”
However, in spite of being a natural herb, not all stevia products on the shelves are created equal. In fact, in some of the more inferior brands, what they advertise as stevia isn’t even 100 percent stevia. It is cut with xylitol and disease-causing fillers like dextrose and sugar." (https://draxe.com/nutrition/xylitol/)
My son having diabetes and my stepdad and his stoma has led us to looking at this a lot. SD uses stevia in his coffee and on cereal and it is ok. The 'ol's' cause significant gas which has caused difficuties with the stoma. (He has no bowel so gas cannot be expelled in the normal way)
For things like cakes dates are often used as a sweetener, but honey, maple syrup can also be used but you mat as well use cane sugar as use those.
DW onOH took girls to dance.. Twinkle is very sad today, though she may be ok to leave with a bigger one for swimming, it is a shorter time and her medicine has kicked in so she has actually stopped crying now!

Hi all
Sending love to Twinkle x
Back from hospital with DS1. Funny isnt it, he has been through every unpleasant medical procedure you can think of but was really nervous about this scan. Anyway the nurse was lovely and let me sit with him while he drank the preparation and it all went OK. He has now gone to cricket.
Waiting for DH to come back from work, he has had a letter from the consultant confirming that his test results were clear so they think he has reacted to the Covid jab.
Bit of a headache, going to sit down for half an hour.9 -
TY Piggers, most interesting. While out walking I went to Holland and B, on the packet for Xylitol it says it is safe for diabetics, they also had Stevia, but the assistant reckoned that one is very sweet and can leave an after taste, so I left with nothing, while I do more reading, ty.Walking is doneWatching F1 qually.Weeding this afternoonBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles
