Boo to the mortgage going up - I bet it didn't ask first. The rest sounds good, though. I miss city centres but at least I can visit from time to time. Pret and the national gallery are definitely reasons to go again.
I love that you can now justify the portrait course - well done on avoiding the less interesting alternative.
I hope your Dad feels better soon.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Like me the mortgage has been at the Christmas treats and is putting weight on 💩
I did keep looking at cafes and restaurants going ooh I'd like to eat there. I'm thinking when the weather warms up I might do a pretend I'm in Paris trip into town (city centre) and go eat at French restaurant.
Dad has developed a pressure sore in a delicate region. GP prescribed stuff last night so twill be Florence Nightingale again for a while. Teacup was sent out to pick up the prescription with the result being she cannot return to the pharmacy for a long time having used the words it won't fit in the crack. And various other garbled explanations.
Once you have googled pressure sores, you cannot unsee it.
Money wise I gave myself a fright when I checked my bank account after my shopping splurge yesterday (is 3 things a splurge not sure). Thought I had somehow spent over 300euro in a week before seeing the transfer for my cc payments.

Got a bee in my bonnet today about getting rid of Heavy's manky old sofa and cleaning in the sitting room in general. Heavy was turfed out of bed at an early for him time of noon. We dragged the sofa out to the front with all the hand saws we could find. Heavy then set to. And was defeated. Took to it with a hammer and had some success. Saw the neighbours so asked if they had a power saw. Next thing he came round, picked up the saw and started going through the couch like a knife through butter.
He's 90.
Heavy none too happy with a smaller chair as he doesn't quite fit in it 🤣🤣🤣
Long term readers may recall me getting upset at him hating me and me swearing off helping him. I am no longer so emotionally drained and sleep deprived and so have decided I no longer care if he hates me, I don't want him to turn into a fat alcoholic.
I'm also taking advantage of the timing as he is upset at our nephew being afraid of him. Watch this space.
Money wise this has been spendy. 40 euro in the chemist on various wizardry for dad's skin. Attempt 1 has already come off and been replaced 🤦♀️
Hard to get off the cleaning train once I was on it and organized my markers in number order. Have a very random assortment of colours.

You've had yet another busy day! Good luck with the campaign to healthify your brother.
Pressure sores aren't nice and they can appear (apparently) in as little as 20 minutes, which is alarming. I don't know if you've seen it but there's NHS training to help prevent them (I'll PM you as I don't know if I can name it here). It's aimed at health care professionals but I think it might be useful to a lot of carers.
I'm relieved I'm not the only one playing at organising markers. A week ago I had mine in rainbow order subdivided by make. (Blush).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

CC balances are slowly going down. It was satisfying to see it make the change from 17 to 16 at last. I think I prefer this pace to paying it off as quickly as I can. I've never noticed the balance going down and felt it as well.

Glad you got paid - and a little extra for having had to wait.
Eek to pressure sores for your Dad. That sounds painful.
Love the descriptions of different jobs you can do.

Have taken Heavy out to a charity furniture shop after our 90 year old neighbour destroyed his sofa 🤣🤣🤣
He does not fit any furniture. It is like he is sitting on children's seats. Then of course his phone fell out of his pocket and we had to drive all the way back to the shop to get it.
Randomly occurred to me to ask if any of his friends had hobbies and none of them do. One plays football once a week and another has a golf membership but none of them actively pursue any interests. I was wondering if it was just him. Thought that was very sad.
I had plans for money this month, percentages and everything. I've ended up spending more on dad's care items (bought 5 different types of plasters before I found one that stayed on) and we're only at the start of the month.1 -
I'm not sure what the system is in Ireland but I have a feeling that in the UK, dressing a pressure sore might be a community nurse job? If that's available to your Dad, they might have specialist dressings or at least be able to advise.
It's sad about the men not having hobbies. Does that mean your next project will be starting Men's Sheds in your area?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Ha men's sheds are a thing here already. But not for men at Heavy's age I don't think, they're all early thirties. He says they're all busy with work/house/girlfriends/kids etc
It's a bank holiday here today so will be doing any and all phone calls to health professionals tomorrow. Or more likely making Teacup do it. Hate phoning people. Hate having to ask do they have this or that2
