  • Things that have happened since waiting for the bus:
    Darkness has fallen
I have run through my entire energy cycle
    Supernovae have been discovered.
Frodo has delivered the ring to Mordor
    I have frostbite.

On the bright side I was handed a big wad of cash today. Plus an extra 10 for lack of change/convenience. Duly deposited and 20 removed so that I could have my village eat and wander round charity shop today instead of Friday.

Devil child and I played for 2 hours today as Other Children stay late at school on Wednesday. This is both a blessing and a curse. She's delightful on her own, cuddly, curious and engaged. But the slightest thing can derail that train. And it did. One crisis handled and then the next one, well I caused that one. I removed the extra chocolate she sneaked off the table and I was dragged off to be court martialled by Mama 🤣🤣🤣

Absolutely no energy left whatsoever for any sort of money planning. Passive versions of things I like it is

People can be kind, well intentioned and even a pleasure to be with but not have financial ability for one reason or another. However, if she is paying for even some of the time at the nursery, there must be money somewhere. Or are they funded hours?

  • Funded. They have early childhood program
  • Avast me hearties. Apologies but I appear to still be part pirate this morning 🤣🤣🤣
Carer here this morning so of course dad woke up early 🤷
Getting bits and pieces done while he is here, it was nice to be able to hand dad over and finish my breakfast.
Have a mystery shop to do today at some point, supermarket so free food and small payment.

  • Mystery shop complete and report submitted. 14.45 spent on possibly the strangest shop I have ever done. Pizza, tinned tomato, tinned fish, packet sauce and potatoes. Scallions and a pepper. And a bag to put them all in. It felt like a magical wonderland where I could look but not touch going around the supermarket. Ooh look at that. Ooh I could use that.
Finally found everything and went off to the main shopping centre to look for tights, And random supermarket stuff which was less magical wonderland and more mundane.
I lured myself into Very Expensive Art Shop and found the pens I was looking for at just under the fee for the mystery shop so I have nearly broken even.
I have also gotten a new course from a courtroom illustrator which I had forgotten was even a job. Which conveniently my new pens will be perfect for.
CC bills paid and I am contemplating leaving the money in situ as Feb is such a short month and we have a new random bank holiday on Monday so I have 1 day less at work.
  • Love the idea of a job as court room illustrator.
Pens are cost neutral so all good
If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

    Emergency fund 100/1000
    Buffer fund 0/100

  • Makes you think doesn't it? How do they decide when to draw?
I'm not sure I could listen to all the grisly details of court cases though.
It will be useful learning how to make quick sketches in real time

Oops, I cross posted with you the other day, sorry. Grand news on the wodge of cash and the pens... the mystery shop sounds quite fun. After a haul like that do you play Ready Steady Cook?

They're surprisingly stressful Cherry. Or at least this one was, wandering around trying to find specific items by code 🤦‍♀️ I did think I could use some of it in recipes I already had in mind though.

Dad's hospital appointment cancelled as he may have a bug. This gave me a Friday off which meant I went ahead with plans to go into town for a wander to home charity shops and the national gallery. Enjoyed myself for the most part despite lack of sleep.
Have forgotten what it is like to be in a busy city centre, did not miss the walking queue or the visual clutter. Did spend freely, mostly on food which was intentional. Didn't pay for an exhibition as it wasn't what I had gone in for and thought I could spend the €10 on the portrait course I wanted instead.

Have discovered that there is a pret in Dublin now 🤯
  • Oh and mortgage has gone up. Again.
