  • Room is now empty except for my mattress, a table with 3 plants on it, a small bookcase and a lamp. The wall behind my bed still has my calendar and planner on it as well as drawings the kids gave me. But can't see that if sitting down so all good.

Today's productivity was relatively good if unintentional. Decided to just make a list of things that always have to be done without specifying the exact to do. So I'll just have reminders to do admin whatever that may be.
  • I may have just spent 120 euro. Mostly on pillows.
The room reorganizing (I've lost count what number I'm on) spurred me on to thinking about my sleep as well as comfort during the day. I've been strangely craving a down pillow. So I bought 2. Marked down from 90 to 45 euro which is the price they should have been in the first place. I also got two cheap primarni pillows to use as sitting up/couch pillows. Pillows meant pillow cases and protectors...
Basically fell into a black hole of shopping where I bought all the things I could remember. And a cup of tea.

I'll tell you a story: a few years ago I treated the family to a weekend away (low prices in the new year, somewhere easy to get to, all busy adults and didn't see enough of each other...). It was a gorgeous cottage, beautifully decorated, and made me think about the future.

Partly I was thinking about how I'd like our home to look now, and partly about creating an environment that will be as pretty as a holiday cottage, so if when we are older we can't travel, we will still have that cosy experience.

One of the things we've done was a big spend: installing a log burner. Some other expenses/investments have been necessities or sensible things like maintenance or replacing a battered door with a less draughty new one.

Another has been about getting the most comfortable bed, pillows and bedlinen. However tough my day, I now have a hotel-quality sheet and posh pillows (as well as the most comfortable mattress we could afford).

You see where this is going, don't you?! Enjoy your pillows, they are an investment that will help you.

P.S. I haven't regretted a single one of those purchases, but they were all things we could afford, bought over time.

I too think that having the most comfortable bed you can possibly afford is a priority.  A good nights sleep is priceless & pays dividends throughout our day to day "stuff".
  • The environment is definitely important, something that I have gained a deeper understanding of in the last two years. Living in this house with my mother's rather 'heavy' taste has had a noticeable effect on my wellbeing. Even just simple grey jersey pillowcases and a white sheet on my bed are making me calmer.

  • For the 3rd morning in a row, I have woken up with a blister on my tongue grr. Head and neck were uncertain how they felt about new pillows but cannot blame my lack of sleep last night on that. It may have been an excess of caffeine day yesterday....
Pot plant no 3 has gone on holiday to the bathroom. He has gone for the climate.
Pot plant no 2 is looking rather sickly. A visit to the garden centre for a new home and some food is in order methinks.
Intention is to have a calm day today 🤣🤣🤣
Have released teacup into the wild (or her sister's house). And in theory the house will be peaceful.
  • You are getting so organised. Well done.
Pillows are difficult to get right
Top grade bed linen is definitely the way to go but expensive. You can do piece by piece and use sales. Mine are mismatched but within the same colour palette.
Wishing you the calm day you want.

I'm down to the stage of decluttering where if I get rid of something it will almost certainly be asked for in the next week 🤣🤣🤣
Clothes, office in a box, art supplies and storage boxes are now piled up in sister's room. I keep going in with the intention of looking through things then walking straight back out again.
My real priorities seem to be coming to the fore. It will be interesting to see what I do in the next few months.
This month I thought would have been more money oriented. I do get sick of organizing my life around money goals though.
Oh and teacup reneged. Came in demanding attention after her walk and breached the peace.

  • The battle between me and my bedlinen continues. Body (Goldilocks) has decided that the wool duvet I bought is too hot now that it is not minus 6 at night. After cycling through my weighted blanket and deciding that was too cold 🤦‍♀️ I ended up on the landing at midnight digging through the hot press for my old 4.5 tog duvet.
So of course dad woke at 5.15...

Luckily teacup is on the ball today/feeling guilty as she goes away on Friday so she is looking after dad this morning. I booked the carer to come today for 2 hours as well.

Today is my treat day so I have ordered pancakes and coffee (for the energy) for breakfast. Of course it is now lunch.

Bought a kindle book yesterday and think the only thing I might be up for today is a bath and romance novel.
