As it turns out, Dad has been confused by his new bed and in pain from trapped wind. I have added discussion about his new bed to our bedtime routine and Rennies 😀
Hopefully this will help.
Teacup has now developed the lurgy and is refusing a doctor appointment. She will likely get caught up in the excitement of telling people she has an inhaler and will make an appointment 🤦♀️ If not, have recruited my sister the doctor to tell her to do it.
Slowly making progress on the bath. Have started on clearing out Heavy's room. Not entirely sure I shouldn't be wearing a hazmat suit.2 -
I feel you on the bath project. One little job turns into a full day of heavy labour so often when you start to look closely.
On the respite thing, my ex-father-in-law used to go, and he loved it. He enjoyed a holiday from the family, got to do fun activities, loved the food, and always came home happy. Fingers crossed your dad loves it too.Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)

A hazmat suit does sound like it would be needed in some areas. Thank goodness you are addressing it for them.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The bath has now reached the stage where I am doing jobs one at a time, occasionally in my pyjamas. Tonight's job? Cutting open the caulking gun packet. At this rate I should be finished by Christmas.
I am hoping you are right @KeepOnKnitting. I'm torturing myself imagining dropping him off. I keep telling myself that if I can't hack it I can go and get him whenever I want.
I'm never really sure if I'm exaggerating the mess SH. This house stresses me out so much that I think everything is probably worse than it is. But the most frustrating thing? The lack of change. There is no movement, no flow through the house. There is no room for growth or changing needs. Everything has to stay frozen in time.1 -
That sounds sad on the frozen thing. It sounds like your parents have needed support they never recognised and therefore didn't receive earlier in life.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I suppose it's why everyone clutters or hoards really. It's something you always have to be responsible for so you have an excuse for not doing what you're afraid of/can't manage.

There's a lot of wisdom there in your statement. I've previously used debt and too much stuff as a reason not to do stuff... Will be weird once I completely break free of doing that. I'm in danger of using mortgage, pension and COL as my new excuses though.
The amount of stuff I have has dropped to more reasonable levels although I would like to keep reducing it.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

this is what I am currently down to in the main space in my bedroom. there are baskets under the bed too and a bookshelf in the opposite corner.
No sign of a double payment today, starting to think it is a myth.

Your space looks clear and calm. Great work.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
