The holiday is almost over and I have resigned myself to returning to work. Well almost. I'm stretching today out as long as I can.
I did go to the big orange DIY shop to investigate some options but more and more I am coming to realise that I am far from the buying stage. I cannot make a decision to save my life and I am so depleted I'm not even motivated to look. So it may be time to step back and give myself a break.
This month and last has been expensive. I had to get creative with the meter reading this month to break up what would have been a big bill.
Thankfully birthday and Christmas resulted in vouchers so once the electrician has been I shall be put them to use.3 -
I think you're right about the need for a break. Too often I've pushed myself when I should have taken time out, and eventually either something goes wrong or I find I've gone on strike.
I hope the return to work goes better than expected.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

First day back at work. I was ready for bed at 17.30 🤣
Genuinely trying not to go to bed as we speak.
I did not anticipate how tired I would be, and possibly should have factored that in. I ended up going home from work via the chipper. It was inhaled. Because of course I was on the worst possible job for eating on my first day back🤦♂️
Making plans seems impossible as my brain slides all over the place. I've read five minutes of this book, thought about five minutes of that.
I'm going to bed. It will be after 7 by the time I get everything sorted.3 -
And I thought I was weary this evening! I hope you have a good night's sleep and are soon adjusted to being back at work. Chips sound very reasonable in the circumstances (but next time add some beans or fish so you get protein for those well-worked muscles
). I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Ha don't worry there was fish, chips and a pineapple fritter.
Despite being so tired I could only focus in 30 second bursts, I was awake on and off through the night. It was like I had been electrified.
Was very tempted by a takeaway breakfast and would like to say I resisted thanks to power of understanding but in all likelihood it was more because I was afraid it wouldn't turn up on time and they didn't have pain aux raisins.

I love it when the world gives a helping hand by eating all the pain aux raisins before you were too tempted by the takeaway breakfast 😂 Hope the job went better today2

Of course it didn't Stymied. Unless working with a slightly mad, heavy smoking sluggish Polish bloke is your dream job. To be fair he is nice and I do like him but it's hard going. Especially as the delivery area is all hills and stairs.
I did obtain a pain aux raisins by devious means. I bought it as the snack in the Sainsbugs meal deal..at £7 there isn't really any deal about it but at least it meant I ate yesterday and was therefore only marginally hungry leaving work and could go on with my plans for the evening instead of just going straight home.
Tried a new (to me) method of getting things done by asking myself what do I have the energy to do? Hair had to be degreased, food had to be bought. Ended up bussing to gym for shower then back to Sainsbugs as the bus leaves you outside the door as opposed to going to Aldi and having to walk home. And can get a bus home. Have discovered that I am getting good at predicting how much my shop will cost. £47 with nectar prices and then 94p in cashback.
Dreaming of the day I have refrigeration again though.4 -
That sounds to me a very sensible way of prioritising. I might learn from this.WelshmansDaughter said:

I hope you get refrigeration, too. It would make life a lot easier.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

All sounds productive, even the £7 'deal' if it meant you ate, you must burn a helluva lot of calories in your job!
What needs to be done before refrigeration can occur?https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1

I do think it helps with the beating oneself up, Cherry. Although I still feel quite frustrated at perceived limitations, the reframe puts it in perspective.
I am waiting on the electrician which will be the 3rd Feb. I have a voucher for currys and Argos which will go towards a fridge.
Reading a memoir by a woman with EDS PiP. Quite interesting.
Brought lunch like a grownup today and even ate it. Quite excited because my new lunchbox was delivered until I realised that I will now have to figure out what to put in it 🤦♂️
