We had a burst of hailstones on Sunday and some black ice on Monday morning, but that was it! When me and DH were moving to this area I told him it was in a sweet spot where we rarely get bad weather: he didn't believe me, but now he admits it's extraordinary.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

I visited Poolewe which has its own microclimate thanks to the gulf stream. Sadly I am technically on a hill here and then down to the coast so just exposed to everything. It snowed again overnight, made it over to my sister for childcare alright.
I do look on FB for bargains but there seem to be few and far between. It used to be you could get some deals on there but now people up here seem to use it mostly for business or expensive stuff.

Despite three non working days the past week has somehow been more tiring than usual. Did the mail for one street of 40 houses today which necessitated two trips for mail and one for parcels. Apparently the street had all gotten together and cleared the road. Sadly not the path. People very nice and said thank you for coming out. Very tempted to say don't say thank you, stop shopping until the weather improves.
I am off now for a week (I timed that well) as it will be my 40th birthday next week. I try not to work on my birthday. I decided to the nicest birthday gift I can give myself is to have as low-key a week as possible, minimise the demands on myself and just breathe for a bit. I shall take each day as it comes. Although I think I will try and give my sister a break from the baby at least once. Or maybe take her out for coffee, she is going a bit doolally in her current situation.
Most projects on hold until weather improves. Don't really want my flat filling up with bin bags, I don't know yet when the bin men are scheduled to return.
I do need to take a step back from the urgency of things and thinking everything has to be done right now immediately please.

I think cold weather is somehow more tiring, possibly because energy goes into keeping warm and dealing with things in ways we aren't used to, but that's just a theory. We are due much warmer weather on Monday so perhaps it will come to you as well.

It's a nice idea to take your sister out. I'm sure a break would be welcome.

Happy birthday in advance for next week! Does the family know how you want to spend it? Just in case they surprise you with something.

Your birthday week gift to yourself of as much downtime and stress-free attitude as possible sounds marvellous.
Don't feel like there's not space for cake and prosecco though 😁

I am currently taking acid reflux medication PiP so no alcohol for me. Although I may sneak in a nice glass of red if I do take myself out for a nice lunch or something.
A few colleagues have said they are extra tired as well. The walking in snow/ice is quite hard going. I am experiencing hormonal overload though as well as just general exhaustion from working too much/eating too little.
The family have already mentioned taking me out for lunch, I preferred breakfast but we have held off making any plans. We have been under weather advisories all week so no travel really unless necessary. I think my sister and I might go out tomorrow.
I am not a particularly useful sister I don't think DIA, I would imagine I am quite hard work. I have yet to make the suggestion, my energy levels have slumped again.
I did go on a mini adventure to the Asian supermarket. Tried brown sugar mochi and have bought a ginger healing tea. Also got fortune cookies. Mine said, tears are the water for your soul.

I'm not quite sure what that means but if it's about healing and refreshment, that's okay.

Perhaps ask the family for your birthday breakfast on a day of your choosing?

Based on what you say on here I disagree. You are incredibly useful and help a great deal with your sister's children.
