A round of applause please for the lady who managed to leave work on time thereby sticking to her plans.
I won't lie there was a modicum of emotion that I wasn't people pleasing. And I have spent far too much money this evening for a lady who is not working overtime. But it is still counted very much as a win.
Two rather successful days in a row is worthy of noting methinks. We are celebrating a timely exit this morning, a gym visit and a shower. I visited the furniture shop again and hmmed and hawed once more. And went to the library where I overdid the number of books I borrowed relative to my ability to transport them.
Less successful was the £5 spent on too good to go Pret only to be handed a bag of fish. Tuna salad, tuna baguette and salmon sandwich.
I may eat some of it but I gave in to lustful greed and ordered McDonalds.
Also not successful was signing up to the dental plan which now requires either an email or a phone call.
On the bus home now thoroughly overheated and possibly planning to lie on my bed covered in books 🤣🤣🤣6 -
There are worse things than being covered in books.

Well done for leaving work on time: if they want you to do extra, they have to pay you, and you also have to take care of yourself by eating tuna sandwiches getting enough rest.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Nowhere in my life plan does eating tuna count as self care 🤣 I can't even eat canned salmon because it tastes like tuna to me.
Oh the food hangover. I definitely cannot binge eat like good old days. Ended up awake on and off though the night. Nothing like being knackered and driving a big van around tiny streets. Especially when you can't open one of the doors and constantly have to tell yourself that when approaching the van.
And I ended up working two hours overtime today. Thankfully not in the big van. It was planned to take overtime if it was available- to be honest I can't do much of any of the important things while that tired so might as well work 🤣
I did also buy a gentle iron supplement so hopefully that will help with the exhaustion. Need to figure out a solution to food storage that doesn't involve something being plugged in so I stop going to the shop every day.2 -
What was the gentle iron supplement? My gentle one upset my stomach...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Can you hang a bag out of the window for natural winter chill or stand milk / dairy / ham in a bucket of ice water?1
-
I use the iron supplement in a spray, very effective.1
-
I used the feroglobin liquid one DIA. Quite sweet to drink and doesn't have the side effect of tablets.
I had been keeping things on the window sill but the weather has been relatively mild lately so they weren't keeping chilled enough for my paranoia. We are due snow so I could avail of nature's freezer temporarily 🤦♂️ I had thought of a cooler packed with ice. Not sure how best to spend the money I have though just yet.
Not heard of iron in a spray before, where do you get that?
Better sleep last night but still getting tired and grumpy throughout the day. Looking forward to my two days off Thursday and Friday. My colleague very nicely bought me a cake on our unofficial tea break to say thanks for helping with parcels at Christmas. Which was code for feeling guilty that they gave me all the top floors 🤣
I say two days off, I do have two of the nephews tomorrow for a couple of hours. Which is enjoyable when I have energy.
Tonight's dinner was salmon with sushi rice and seaweed salad that I hand bought from Sainsbugs 🤣 Thinking that might be a nice new year tradition to start. I will be sleeping through the changing of the year, hopefully starting as I mean to go on.

Must have a look for that, might be easier than the liquid one.
The bioethanol fire has been cleaned and my initial fear dispelled. Mostly because it is so cold in the flat I can see my breath. It's not a particularly hot fire but is giving me the illusion of heat plus something pretty and soothing to look at. As long as I ignore my vague anxieties about fires and fumes poisoning 🤦♂️
The oil fired radiator is warming my pyjamas (and the room) at least.
Nature has kindly provided me with refrigeration. By way of experimenting I have packed a box with snow and put some refrigerator items in it to see how cold they stay.
Although I have done childcare, shopping, cleaning and some sorting today it feels like I haven't really done anything. All feels a bit like displacement activity and none of the big stuff is getting done. But then I suppose for me activities of daily living are the big stuff.
The flat is at that annoying stage of living in it where I am moving things about, stepping over things and getting irritated by visual overload.
This is not a return to the overload days when stuff piled up everywhere. It's more just that I literally have no furniture. I keep eyeing things in charity shops etc but something is holding me back still.2 -
Snow fridge kept my stuff cool. The snow wasn't fully melted this morning which I suppose is a good thing, means my flat doesn't go below zero overnight 🤣
Luckily there was extra refrigeration supplies this morning 👀.
Was feeling so rotten this morning that I nearly called in sick. Watching the snow blow down the street didn't help.
Got to work to find myself in a job I was not expecting but with a nice enough guy. Only for the manager to call off delivery just as people were loading up vans. We turned around and started sorting everything back and eventually left early at 12.30ish.
It was definitely the right call, I passed three cars getting into trouble in the snow and then the bus stuck at the top of the hill.
Am currently wrapped up in bed contemplating (my navel🤣). It's the kind of day that I really wish I had a comfy chair and TV to curl up in front of. Might try and dig out the mobile broadband and see if I can get it working. However I am very unmotivated to do anything.2
