Hope you're feeling better and have had a restful day. No better way to celebrate winter solstice than by doing as little as possiblehttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1

A bubble seems to have burst (ahem) and I was full of energy today. Or at least, not in a bad mood which is of course the same thing. I suspect that going to work was somewhat of a relief after a Sunday spent not quite knowing what I was doing. All morning was in fact spent making attempts to get out of bed then returning to it, only to somewhat ironically be disturbed by a delivery 🤣
Attempts to whittle down my task list were foiled both by tiredness and the fact that the petrol station washing machine was out of order.
This morning however was very productive in the sense that I just bought everything I needed- food for the day, bedding (sheets were in the wash that didn't happen). I continued this streak after work by going to the gym and actually using some equipment instead of just the shower 🤣
It was supposed to be the return to part time hours today so of course I worked full time today 🤣 I did agree it with manager on Friday though so not unexpected.
Must put new bedding on as do not enjoy sleeping on bare mattress. Also need to make a list of what is left to do.7 -
Ladies and gentlemen, Christmas is over.
And by that I mean work. I really felt like ringing a bell leaving today (an hour early whoop).
I have yet to feel Christmassy.
I hope everyone enjoys their time whatever is planned.5 -
Have a good one, even or especially if that means snoozing all day. Thank you for all your postie work 🥂https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase/p1

If I'm honest, Christmas just felt like another work day this year. Up at 5, wrangling children, awkward family problems. Then up at 5 again today, out with boys to playground (enjoyable but tiring) then playing until awkwardly asked when I was leaving as she was giving me a lift before nap times etc.
A different Christmas than I'm used to, it has me thinking about what I want out of next year, although it is only 7pm and I can't keep my eyes open. Hazards of sleeping on the sofa.
I did get my laundry done and food for tomorrow as I am back to work. Petrol station washing machine working again but not really a viable option long term as I need to wash uniform twice a week. Wash and dry cost £12.50 a pop. I plan to get a portable machine to see me though the next six months or so, they cost approx £70.
Much thinking about next steps . Although hard to do when so tired.1 -
Yup, that sounds like Christmas! So long as you also over-ate?
Is there any way to acquire more uniform to reduce wash to once a week? How much for just wash? Very heavy to carry then I guess.
I never knew portable washing machines existed - so cute!
Will “advent” resume in Jan?

Belated happy Christmas! I wonder if you could trade a bit of childcare for use of the washing machine at your sister's? Though having a portable washer would be the most helpful. I remember years ago having no washer but a spin dryer and it made a huge difference - though I'm shocked at the the prices now. I think @stymied's idea of an extra set of uniform is spot on and would probably save money in the longer term. Don't forget you may be allowed to claim for necessary laundry against taxes and this can be backdated.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
