Sorry to hear that, infections in people with dementia can cause chaos. My mum used to hallucinate and have paranoid delusions with them. I hope he'll be OK. Take care xx2

A strange day. Didn't sleep as both dad and I were suffering in the heat.
Decided to spend the day lying down in between dad's things. The sports field behind the house provided the slightly creepy soundtrack of children shouting All Hail something or other so no morning nap was had.
More successful in the afternoon thanks to white noise on YouTube.
Spent €3.99 on a video rental on YouTube, the Advanced Style documentary which I watched after my nap.
Tempted to try and Get Things Done but instead I am going to do the 10 minute yoga bedtime in bed routine. And try and get some sleep.2 -
Hoping you got some sleep. Lovely photo. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

@GhibliFan yes infection can do horrible things to people.
Thanks SavingHolmes and Doingitanyway.
Another day has begun. Woke up with a sore throat so tested self. Negative result.
Had to order more stuff for the bed so hopefully that arrives today.
Teacup has been asking the public health nurse and ot for equipment but apparently the waiting list has 200 people on it. Not sure how you have a waiting list for acute needs but that is the mystery.
Not sure about going out for a walk today. Spent yesterday leaping off the path as anybody remotely vulnerable looking approached.
Some money problems have arisen but they are probably best dealt with at a less sleep deprived time. Especially since I think they occurred at the last sleep deprived time.1 -
Sorry things are so rough. I bet it feels endless. You are doing an amazing thing. I don't think I could do it.
When going through hell - you know what they say....
Just keep going... Hope you pop out the other side soon.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Sorry things are hard. When we were in that situation we were lucky with a three week wait and that felt like forever given the need. Knowing my loved ones situation was so dire and something that could help couldn't be provided quickly was a downer...
Hope you get the money issue sorted
Your walk sounds important. Can you go at a quieter time or is that an issue with carers? If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Having a sports field and clubhouse behind the house is challenging. I have been entertaining thoughts of revenge, so far my favourite is tiny green thumbtacks spread out all over the pitch.
Not much else to report. Have mostly decluttered my bedroom. Was so taken by the lovely empty room I didn't want to put anything back.
I did not go for a walk yesterday, it was far too hot and I spent most of the time I could in bed.
Keeping things ticking over as best I can. Brother has been a big help, much easier lifting Dad about with two people. Fingers crossed today we can get him into a chair.3 -
In a somewhat inevitable twist, teacup and I have both tested positive. A sore throat and slight cough for me. Teacup has the chest infection as well so she sounds like her lungs are trying to evacuate themselves.
I've been thinking though about how lucky we are in some ways. We can keep Dad out of hospital (as far as we can). We can do three loads of laundry a day. And even though I complain about the heat, I am ridiculously glad when I can hang out washing and it's dry in an hour.
Seven days isolation is the rule here so no walks. If I am feeling particularly energetic I shall get on the exercise bike.
Though I am probably getting enough exercise just going up and down the stairs. Hazards of a bad memory and dad sleeping downstairs.2 -
Get well soon, all three of you. When I had covid I had no energy at all, so you’re doing very well so far. Don’t overdo it whilst you’re infected.I live on the rainy west coast of Scotland, so I feel the same way about getting my washing dried outside! It’s quite a rare treat - and very money saving 😁2
