What to say about today? Woke up from a fractured sleep, not emotional in origin but rather the side effect of sleeping in a chair in a musty room.
I had no idea of the scale of difficulty I was having with the environment in Dublin. I went for a walk last night and just felt the sheer openness of the skies, the lack of traffic noise... Even now I can mostly just hear the birds and someone talking. There's quiet.
Mostly a fiddle faddle sort of day, I had supplies in for breakfast so I stayed in my chair and read and drank tea. Haven't been able to read for ages.
Did little bits here and there, I'm finding it much more satisfying doing little bits at a time. And I even spent time sharpening the blade on garden tools.
I did end up with what I have called Aberdeen Portion Control after I ordered a carvery for lunch, left it outside on the step and came back to find a seagull flying away with some Yorkshire pudding. Salvaged what I could 🤷
Ordered a TGTG bag from the local spar, surprised to find burgers, chicken breasts, haggis and lorne sausage. And macaroni cheese. All for the princely sum of £3.
Evening has been spent slowly adding books to ziffit. I am enjoying rediscovering all the books that relate to my interests.
I have a vague notion that I should be doing more to earn money so any suggestions welcome. Bear in mind that I do tear up approximately once an hour.3 -
Your flat sounds lovely and peaceful.
I have that notion that I should be earning money, too, though I still have an income from my job, it's just that I'm not there. I keep a look out locally but I know I need recovery time and it sounds as though you do, too. You've mentioned gig economy jobs before. Might that be a first line of enquiry?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

It's difficult to adjust - but it sounds like you are finding your flat peaceful at least. Glad the surroundings are restorative.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The gig job is in consideration Cherry.
I am thinking about things I can do from home that perhaps require little brain power? I'm sure there is a list on mse somewhere but I seem to zone out now while reading long lists 🤷
I'm not sure anyone else would describe my flat as peaceful SH 🤣🤣🤣2 -
It is still early days so don't push yourself too hard.

Went to the shop last night amd came back with eggs, mini muffins and buttercream icing. I'd already done a shop for actual food. Inadvertently worried my neighbour into thinking I was on the verge of food poverty. Which led to the very kind offer of a sandwich if I needed one. 😍
I may or may not have been avoiding feelings yesterday and so had a productive hour selling a freezer and my old electric bike on marketplace. My dinner went a bit cold but I pocketed £90.
The £10 sofa arrives today and I think it goes in the back room which requires emptying and a good scrub.
I was out in the garden yesterday morning and put a hole in the hedge to create a direct pathway to the street which should help with rubbish removal etc. Sandwich neighbour trimmed the whole rest of the hedge and we had a chat.
Most of what I have in mind (other than grief and finances) is clearing. It's been really noticeable how damp and musty the flat is with the rain the last few days.

Oh and some stuff is just piled up awaiting car boot. It could be this weekend but I imagine such things get rained off. Mu st tidy the pile though.2

Nice to know people are looking out for you. I hope that is a good price for the bike?
£10 sofa is an amazing deal
Clearance is always therapeutic.
