  • Happy New Year!

I’ve done a monthly meal plan in an attempt to be more organised, I find it easier planning the month than the weeks at a time, it’s helps manage our grocery budget too.

    This week is -
    Monday - Fish and Chips
    Tuesday - Gammon Picnic Pasta
Wednesday - Messy Egg, Beans and Toast
Thursday - Salmon, Rice and Veg
    Friday - Chicken Burgers
Saturday - Chilli con Carne and Rice
    Sunday - Roast Chicken

I too do a monthly meal plan but things do tend to change more frequently than they used to years ago when I did weekly ones!

We're not at home for the full month so haven't done a complete plan and just using up bits and pieces from fridge, freezer and pantry!

@StickyTheStickInsect - can I ask what is the gammon picnic pasta?

Nothing set in stone but this week I plan to use up:

Leftover roast chicken in a home made sweet and sour sauce
    Salmon fillets
    Fakeaway KFC
    Jacket potato with tuna mayo
    Fish pie

@joedenise Gammon Picnic Pasta is a recipe from the "Feed Your Family for £20 a Week" cookbook. I substitute Paprika for Cayenne Pepper as it's too spicy for my littles otherwise. It's a firm small children pleaser in my house.
We are having it several times this month because I ordered the wrong size gammon for Christmas day which was too big to fit in the large slow cooker!!

    Happy New Year everyone.
First proper meal plan for a few weeks, though there might be a couple of changes as the week goes on.

S- Lamb Rogan Josh, rice and naan
M - Pork steaks, roast veg
T - Turkey soup, bread, cheese, salad
W - Cottage pie using up a tub of cheesy mash from the freezer, veg
T - Thai green chicken and veg curry, rice

Thanks for the recipe @StickyTheStickInsect.  Looks simple enough and very tasty.  Think I'd probably only make up half as there is only DH and me and I think twice in a week would be enough!!!

Change of plan already!  There was more LO chicken than I thought so we're now having Spanish rice - sort of risotto with chicken and chorizo and plenty of paprika.  Will drop either the jacket potato or the fish pie.

Meals for this week - few will be based on the leg of lamb from the freezer which is currently in the fridge defrosting.  DH will be taking a couple of thick slices from the top of it before roasting for other meals.

In no particular order apart from Roast lamb on Sunday!:

Fakeaway KFC, chips, beans, corn on the cob
    Roast lamb dinner
    Egg, chips and beans
    Lamb tagine.
    Shepherds pie
Something with fish but not sure what
    Beef in gravy (from freezer)
