    Hello meal-planners!

I’m trying to cobble together a plan for the food I picked up yesterday from the Community Larder. The £1 donation they suggest yielded the following:

Large sliced loaf of Hovis granary bread
    6 free range eggs
    4 large baking potatoes
    1 bag chantenay carrots
    2 large brown onions
    1 garlic bulb
    1 head of broccoli
1 pack of Thai ingredients (lemon grass, red chilli, ginger, mini corn and mange touts)
    2 corn on the cob
    2 pak choi
    1 large leek
large handful of white button mushrooms
    large handful of cherry tomatoes
1 bag of spinach, watercress and rocket leaves
    1 orange melon
    1 punnet strawberries
    3 easy peeler satsumas
    4 red apples
    1 avocado
    1 pomegranate
    2 bananas
    2 nectarines
    1 pack mini pork pies
    1 pack sliced Wiltshire ham
    1 Charlie Bigham lasagne
1 box 9 mini mince pies
    1 Pret chicken satay wrap
    1 Pret hoisin duck wrap
1 Pret ham and cheese sandwich
1 Pret hoisin duck salad bowl
1 Waitrose Greek feta and olive salad bowl
    2 strawberry mousse desserts
    1 small carton plain yogurt

Breakfasts over the next week will be scrambled egg on toast x 2, smashed avocado on toast with a poached egg x1, and overnight oats/muesli from existing stores (with added grated apple).

Lunch today was the chicken satay wrap, I am out tomorrow, Saturday will be the Greek salad, and the hoisin duck salad can be Sunday. I have frozen the ham and cheese sandwich to have on Monday as a toastie. I have used some of the leek, carrot, onion, broccoli, mange touts and potato as a soup base - all finely diced and simmered in lamb stock along with some leftover shredded roast lamb, some pearl barley and red lentils. I’ve frozen it in tubs to have for lunches on various days over the next week or two.

Dinners : I had the hoisin duck wrap last night, tonight is a lamb pilaf using the last of the leftover roast lamb, basmati rice, some of the onion and red chilli, some diced red pepper that was starting to go soft, a few cherry tomatoes, curry spices, mango chutney, flaked almonds and pomegranate seeds and drizzled with plain yogurt.  Tomorrow will be the lasagne with a side salad.

I think I have all the makings for a noodle stir fry which will use up the Thai veg pack, a bit of the broccoli, the pak choi and mushrooms. I have a couple of sachets of black bean sauce and a pack of dried egg noodles to add to it, I collected those from the Community Larder last week.

This will probably see me through to Monday. I spotted on @K9sandFelines earlier menu plan a black bean and pineapple stew with couscous which sounded delicious. I have all the ingredients for that, so that’ll be for Monday and Tuesday - and then I’ll be back at the Community Fridge again on Wednesday.

    What a rambling post 😂😂

    That's an amazing "haul" @C_J

Coming back here for some accountability / inspiration as need to make room in the freezer for the impending Christmas festivities.  The plan for this week so far:

M - Stir Fry which will use up some random veg from the fridge and will concoct a sauce from the many condiments we have in the fridge door

T - Leftover curry from last week for me as DH is away

W - Chilli and Rice and salad which I prepped over the weekend in the slow cooker because chilli always tastes better after it's sat for a few days

T - Out for dinner (I'm guessing as we both have a meeting in London at 5:30)

F - "French Onion Soup" Meatballs, mash and green beans

S - One pot Nando's Chicken and Rice

    Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £
    LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000

  • Hello all, meal plan for our week

Breakfast - cereal for DH and porridge with two eggs and cinnamon stewed apples for me.

Lunch - cheese sandwiches for DH and Soup + whatever bread we have around for me. Soup is currently broccoli, peas, spinach, potato and some mature cheddar.
Lunch Sat/Sun will probably be something like eggy bread or no lunch depending on how busy we are.

    M - corned beef hash
T - slow cooker chilli with rice
W - leftover slow cooker chilli with a jacket spud
T - pasta bake with tuna
F - fish, mash and peas
    S - pizza saturday
S - sausages, mash, veg, might do roasties instead of mash unsure, if I do roasties I'll basically do a roast but with sausages and not chicken lol

No treats in the house currently so looking at making some apple cookies. Nephews birthday is this weekend so will probably end up with some spare cakes as well.

Based on the goodies I picked up today from the Community Fridge, my meal plan for the next few days will be:

Wednesday : Thai green vegetable curry and rice
Thursday : Beef chilli burrito bowl
Friday : Chicken and vegetable coconut curry and rice
    Saturday : Stuffed roasted mushrooms
Sunday : Roast chicken with roast potatoes, carrots and tenderstem broccoli
Monday: Chicken and veg stir fry
Tuesday Korean spicy beef and noodle bowl

Breakfasts will be croissants, toast, cereal, porridge, scrambled eggs

Lunches will be a Pret chicken schwarma wrap, avocado on toasted granary bread, butternut squash soup, toasted sandwiches and a fish finger bap.

I've got fresh melon, raspberries, grapes, bananas, easy peelers, pears and flavoured yogurts for desserts.

I'll need to top up on milk by Monday, but that's probably all the food shopping I will need this week.

Afternoon all.  Managed to keep to the food budget this week, including a trip to Costco so feeling a little smug about things.  Think that's because a lot of these things are from the freezer.  Plan for this week is:

M - "Nandos" Chicken rice bake
    T - Mushroom Risotto
W - BBQ Pork Strips with chips and coleslaw
    T - Mushroom Risotto
    F - Creamy sausage pasta
S - Leftover Dhal and naan bread (from the freezer)

Lunches are a mixture of spicy sweet potato soup and salads depending on how cold it is.  Breakfast is cereal, eggs with toast or a smoothie, again depending on how I'm feeling.
