When did we stop using "pints"?
What's funny is the corner shop has a tatty hand written poster in the window which reads "4 Pint Milk £1" but when you go in they are actually 2 litre bottles.  :D
The other day I noticed in my local, town centre, Lidl that some of the milk was now in 2 litre bottles and the price still as for 4 pints - but the shelf-edge labels still gave the price per litre as if they were 4 pint bottles.

I suppose that they are moving to selling in whole litres rather than whole pints and the two sizes were because of different dates for the whole milk and semi-skimmed etc.  Eventually they'll get the labels in line - though their maths is sometimes in want of correction (thinking of nutritional tables).

Tesco 4 pints is now £1.29. (yesterday)
What I cannot understand is that it has recently risen to that price from £1.15, during which time their 500g low-fat natural yoghurt, made with Britsh milk, has remained at a constant 45p. It does not make sense!

I get milk delivered direct from a local farm 3 times a week. It costs £1.25/litre or £0.68/pint.

Yes, its more expensive than from any of the shops but all the money goes to the farm, there are no middle-men / brokers / supermarkets taking their cut, the food miles are much less than milk from any other source (the farm is only 5 miles away), they sell full-fat, semi-skimmed or skimmed but probably most importantly of all - it tastes so much better than the milk from the shops.
Do you really think it tastes better/different?
I get that BOB milk, that’s about £2 for 2 litres.

Which only the older generations "get". I'm in my fifth decade on this earth and I was taught metric measurements, not imperial. I only know of imperial measurements due to my parents refusing to use "that continental rubbish". My children don't use imperial measurements at all.

    Imperial measures
We're still buying a 1lb jar of jam and often sausages in 1lb packaging.
Who can envisage the size of a gram or the length of a mm.
We still compare weight to 2lb bag of sugar even though it's now 10% heavier.
  • A reasonably price milk man would be nice but they have been out priced by the supermarkets.

    Who cares ?
People look at what the volume of jam is in a jar, and the number of sausages in a pack, not how much they weigh.
I can't believe with everything that's going on in the world today, that our government seriosuly considers this an issue to be wasting any trime on at all.,...
