Good morning guys
Today is my first proper day of the challenge. I’m at work mid morning so will prep tea, put the recycling out before I walk to work. It’s only 2 stops on the tram but £2.60. I doubt I’ll walk back, it depends how busy we are but I’ve planned for transport costs so any saved are a bonus. Also a bit of exercise.
My online shop arrives this evening so today won’t be a NSD. I have a delivery saver and didn’t need the full £40 but noticed they had hot water bottles so popped one in my basket. Winter prep, I have a feeling they may go up in price later in the year.
I’m back on the healthy eating today and as frugal as possible. The weekend was quite a heavy one, moneywise and food wise. A friends birthday Friday, a belated birthday meal out with DS2( he had covid for his birthday so it was put back a couple of weeks) and then yesterday we finally got to see DS1 and his partner and our grandbump ( he/she’s due in July) We’ve not seen them since Xmas, they only live an hour away but between work for all of us and ill health we’ve finally got there.Anyway I better get on
Have a good day frugallers

Another way of looking at NEGATIVE Self-Talk
Talk to yourself as you would
YOUR BFF - Nobody deserves this more than you. You are the most fabulous.....
A CHILD - I know it's a little scary but I know you'll be okay
A STRANGER - Do you need some help with that
YOUR PET - We can stop for one treat but then we need to keep going
YOUR LOVE INTEREST - You know what I like so much about you
YOUR FAVOURITE INDULGENCE - You are 100% worth it, every single penny

Many apologies if this is all information overload - just read it through, adopt anything helpful (or jot it down for later), discard the rest. Unfortunately this is what the inside of my brain looks like atm (but it's a bit more chaotic). CBT will help with this (was going to say hopefully But NO - it is going to help, will seek another source of help if necessary). I'm always leading from the back - struggling with walking using a walker so what's this exercise thing? but first time 'leading' (supervising?, administrating? Overseeing - where's my whip? Mostly just muddling through?) from a place of chaos and absolute disorder.
Being positive - I'm laughing/ smiling at myself, so my sense of humour (ultimate survival tool) is returning. Saw an 'Aunty Acid' cartoon yesterday 'Instead of cleaning my house, I just watch an episode of Hoarders and the I think how clean my house already is' (paraphrasing, not procrastinating by hunting for the actual cartoon and exact words). I've survived worse, I'll get through this. The discipline of working through the challenge and going through the CBT counselling will help.
Pills and food have been done (and first layer of moisturising applied and sunk in) so will try to get on with my day (quick wash, put pants on and toddle round to the food bank with the collected tins - no waiting until I have all the bits in one place). Progress not perfection. Then I could cross the road and catch the next bus to mum's to put her bins out.
Yes I did far too much yesterday (definitely stopped for now because after breaking the secateurs and losing the scissors somewhere in the giant bin of leaves, I asked DS3where he had put the scissors he 'took charge of' when we found them (my dressmaking shears) and I've worn a sore spot on my hand. Could also have been caffeine overload (primary motivators for the SM trip were decaffeinated drinks, replacing the secateurs and the need for a one stop shop) or a combination of other side effects. Taking today one step at a time with lots of resting (can do a few brain dump exercises).

Was hoping for an NSD today, but of course, I need to go to the dentist which is not near and it's in work time, so they'll expect me to take a taxi for the quickest...Keep reading books!

I’m loving the self talk list. This is something we all need more of!
I am on no spend day number 2 today.
Work is overwhelming, but I plan to use some of the lovely self talk guidelines today, thank you.I’m not sure what is important to me/what I want and feel quite rudderless when I ask myself that question. I want more money, for security and also so I can replace my car without a loan when the time comes (hopefully many, many years from now), so the one (and only) thing I can do there is concentrate hard on savings and limiting silly spending.I try to be outwardly positive, but am often very negative to myself, so I’ll try to think about that.

Thank you mothernerd for your post. I've edited to show the bits that really resonate with me - they could be used every single day! I decided yesterday that May is going to be all about me and focussing on me. I will make time to do what needs to be done for me. This obviously won't be to the exclusion of other people and life in general, but I want 'me' to be at the forefront of my planning this monthNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7 -
I - improve... I'm shattered today but I've sorted through some shirts and things already and found bits of rubbish to throw away/recycle in the bedroom, plus picked up and sorted through a pile of jewellery.Keep reading books!

I was working in the office today. Manager asked me to come in to give a struggling colleague a chance to shadow me. It was a bit of a secret mission. He wasn’t aware it was set up to try and improve his work. But it was good to sit alongside him and show him how I do things. Colleague said thank you more times than was necessary so I think ‘mission accomplished’. I really hope it helped him - for his benefit as much as our employer’s.£2.55 from a cashback site appeared in my account today so it was transferred straight into mortgage OP.I submitted an appeal on the refusal of our school placing request for DS. Just have to wait for the outcome and take it from there. Ironically, I also had a ‘parents update’ call with his nursery teacher in the afternoon. She wasn’t aware of the authority’s decision. She gave DS a glowing report. Shame she has no influence on placing requests. 😂Grateful today for a productive work day, for having the chance to help a colleague, and for a positive update from DS’s nursery teacher about his progress.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸5

Evening Turtles. Only a small medical emergency spend today as DS2 has eaten too much cheese and vomited a lot. So off to sainsbobs for lactose free milk butter and cheese. Or it may have been the teams meeting he had for his new job frightened him!
Today I am grateful for there being such a thing as dairy free, getting a wash dry on the line and the sun coming out later after a dull day.3
