NST May MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM

OH, DS, and I headed out to a museum and park today. Mr Spendypants (OH) bought coffees, pastries, and ice creams… I think out of guilt. He forgot to lift DS’s packed lunch and so I found myself buying an overpriced children’s lunch box from the museum cafe containing a crappy cheese sandwich, a yoghurt that had a teaspoon of yoghurt in it, a carton of juice and an easy peel orange. I was not amused.Grateful today for time with my family, for museums (especially free ones!), and for arriving at the museum just as the organ player was playing music from Mary Poppins. Lovely.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸6

Spent maybe 2 hours outside last night chopping away at the ivy (furniture shop's).managed to break my newest secateurs, carried on with kitchen type scissors and 'lost' them -I was sitting on the walker, holding onto a yard brush and a large dustpan, couldn't find anywhere to put the scissors. At some point they slipped from my grasp and it was too dark to see the pavement clearly. Went out early this morning to have a look and no sign so either they are in amongst the leaves or they were outside and someone has taken them.
Probably another hour or more this morning, doing a bit more chopping and then cutting the ivy into small pieces (7 rubble sacks worth so far and still have a huge bin of leaves to go through). Have part filled all of the neighbours' green bins (they aren't using them and they were all lined up in the backs - was originally chopping to take to mum's but s-i-l didn't phone to say she was coming and these bins were nearer.
Had a couple of hours resting and went to little Arseda in the last hour before closing. Needed drinks (didn't get to buy any the other day and have drunk caffeinated drinks for a day and a half and need to stop), found secateurs and bought a ys sandwich (also bought a loaf so can make my own sandwiches). Felt strange in the SM and was ready to burst into tears by the time I got to my front door. Too weak to lift the handles of the bags off the walker and can't get the walker in through the door with bags on the handles, so sat down, pulling large bottles out of the bags and dropping them on the vestibule floor.
DS2 came through the middle door as I finished doing that so asked him to take the bags and remaining contents inside. Sat in the garden chatting to him and his Beloved. He has a car (passed the test on his third attempt) so Beloved won't have to drive to the hospital when she's in labour. First car owner in the family (my brother's could both drive but the money i intended to use for lessons went into buying my house).
So cheered up a bit and brought drinks and my sandwich upstairs with me. Grateful for getting lots of chopping done (asked Ds2 to do the final cut on the trunk of the pyracantha (I had it on it's side but couldn't cut through the last bit of trunk, it kept twisting away and I needed both hands for sawing). Sawn off several more branches this morning and cut up a thick ivy stem (over an inch thick). DS2 is going to come and help with some of the heavy garden stuff - he has a project deadline this week but will have more free time after that.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7 -

Thank you all so, so much for your kind words & hugs, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who has experienced this, though I wouldn't wish it on anyone!
Thankfully today has gone a lot better. We were able to get an appointment with a doctor this morning. He was very positive & answered all DS2's questions & was pleased how well DS is doing despite not being on the full dose of tablets for his hernia. Suggested that DS takes up running, which will give him his exercise fix & help his MH too. DS felt more uplifted & hopeful when we left. Doctor going to send him a letter detailing all they discussed, so he has something in writing he can refer to, & a list of apps he can access when he's feeling low.
Did some cleaning, then emptied a compost bin for turning over, then chopped spiky twigs into sacks to take to the dump. Repaired a coat after tea & did a bit of knitting. Feeling quite tired.

@apple_muncher Thanks for the encouragement.
So sorry to read that there have been some bereavements. I was sole executor for both parents so know how hard it is to cope with grief and trying to sort everything out.
@Thrifty_Taylor Hope DS2 is OK and continues to make progress.
Yesterday was NSD2, spent the afternoon calming down upset Fluffy Monster and making a big fuss of him. No plans to spend money until grocery shop later in the week, enough food to last until then so will see if I manage some more NSD's.

Mothernerd - I also don't know how you manage to do all the things you do, Take care of yourself.
Thrifty - Having a positive and understanding doctor makes all the difference. My DS also went through this and it was the support of family, friends, a good doctor and a local group that got him through. He's also come out the other side now and doing really well. We're all here for you. Hugs xxx
Money - NSD No 2. I was going to get my passport photographs taken but I had forgotten that it was a bank holiday and the shop was closed. I only found out when Himself returned from the barbers minus haircut. He wasn't pleased! But he had a walk around the shops (didn't buy anything) and has informed me that food seems to be going up in price. He must be the only person in the country to have just realized this.
Home - Changed the bedding, did the washing and got it all dried outside. Just as well. It's pouring down now. Tidied, dusted, etc. I keep seeing more and more that needs done. I seem to have a cleaning cloth permanently stuck to my hand. Identified a few repairs that the Council need to do but there's no point in contacting them this week as they'll send someone out when I'm away and I'll have to start the process all over again. Decluttering - One roll of carpet which has been in a cupboard for at least five years (don't know why we kept it in the first place), several half empty ancient jars of chutney which were lurking at the back of the fridge (did I mention Himself's obsession with buying jars?) and a few little unidentified objects from the freezer. Shredded an unused chequebook belong to Himself. The branch which issued it closed down over 25 years ago!
Me - Ate quite healthily yesterday. Poached egg on toast for lunch and smoked hake, boiled potatoes and broccoli for dinner. First time I've ever had smoked hake. It was delicious. Think I'll have a bit of "me" time this afternoon with a face pack and a tub of body lotion.
So, I'm going to finish this coffee, get the ironing done and get my cleaning cloth out. And it's only seven o'clock. There's a lot to be said for getting up early.
Have a good day.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
